Sorry I should have given context, I'm in Australia , I've been following the royal commission here and the trail of destruction of religious institutions.
Many of the perpetrators are deceased and many victims by suicide.
George Pell ( Australian ) , once considered number 3 in the Vatican has been convicted of historical sex abuse from the 90s. The anger here is palatable, more astounding is ex prime ministers and many prominent public figures still come out publicly to support him.
Pell is a cold remorseless man who has continually diminished the impact on victims , who's legal team tried to diminish the abuse he perpetrated because each repeated event was no longer than 6 min, he even denied they were under his care!

The existence of paedophile priests indicates a number of things, including the possibility that there is no God or that if there is a god divine intervention is not practiced by said god based on commonly accepted human moral values.

2

Actually it doesn't, but it does indicate that the popular beliefs in who and what god is is an invention of mankind.

One of the many possibilities is that God exist and He IS a pedophile too

2

Nah, it's just an indication that organized religion is just a power structure.
Your statement soul be analogus to criminals prove that the law is false.

@F-IM-Forty But that is the point. Nothing humans do or do not do can prove or disprove any divinity.
Try to find a way to do it is intrinsically a waste of time and bring the conclusion that if we cannot know a divinity to the point of knowing about it is existence or what does it want/allow, why bother to have a religion or even believe?

3

No argument from me on that one.

2

I mean, there’s nothing in the Bible that says pedophilia is bad. So this all seems on the up and up.

True, which proves that the religious use secular morality whether they'll admit it or not. If you have to refer to a moral standpoint outside your holy book that should tell you something about your beliefs.

4

No they are not.It just proves that there are some nasty perverts who will take advantage of a situation.Nothing to do with the existence or non existence of any god.

So you think a God who preaches good would not divine intervention paedophile priests arses.?

@Emile Not sure what you are trying to say but there is absolutely no evidence of any god good or bad so it does not really matter.

7

Not even slightly. It may prove if a god exists it doesn't give a damn but it doesn't prove no god exists. You cannot prove god doesn't exists anymore than you can prove one does. All you can prove is that there is no good reason to believe a god exists.

Reminds me of Schrödinger's cat. To me sort of the same theory - How can the cat be both alive and dead at the same time...So, I think, as with the cat both can be equally true until the cat or is physically observed. Just my thought

I agree.

Or at least not a kind, compassionate or loving god...

Divine malevolence, even worse.

8

that's silly. that only proves there is no good god, or that there is no god who gets involved in human affairs. it doesn't prove there is no god of any kind. it is impossible to prove that negative. of course there are no gods; it is as silly to try to prove that as it would be to prove there is no tooth fairy.

g

What about the tooth fairy??

@Emile she still owes me money!
