I consider having a boss a bad idea.

As long as she gives me a payrise and i get to stay home and look after the kids

Bad idea. Too many ways for it to go wrong.

Bad, badder, baddest idea ever. Don't even think about it. If you dig him/her that much you get a new job and then date him/her. Nothing good will come of it. NOTHING!!!

Never

nope

If you're ok to leave your job at a moment's notice should it go sideways, otherwise Nope that from space!!! Even then should you decide to leave they could give you a less than glowing reference.

Very, very bad idea. Our company has a policy forbidding it.

It really is a very bad idea..

Dating any coworker is probably not the best idea. There obviously are examples where it has worked, but I believe they are the exception, rather than the rule.

4

If they were hot. Then we'd find out who the real boss is.

I think it is a bad idea. There is too much at stake. Now, maybe if you have been working for this person for a number of years and they are close to your age, then I might give it a "heads up!' To begin with, there is an imbalance of power, here. That matters, when we are establishing a relationship. To my way of thinking, a love relationship, should have balance of power, to be working well. A relationship with a boss, creates problems, if you are having a 'spat,' or possibly something goes wrong at the work place or conflicting feelings between other employees with the boss, if he/she shows preferential treatment, because of a relationship. And, the 'biggie' reason not to have a relationship, is if something happens that breaks up the relationship, you may need to be away from this person, so that you can move on...which would leave you to find a new job at a very bad time! Why set yourself up for such stress?

Not only a bad idea but normally against company policy plus against the law in some industries/states

I did, once. We had to be very careful not to give any sign of it at work but people did find out eventually - that may have led to problems had they felt I was receiving any preferential treatment, but fortunately I left the company (for other reasons!) shortly after it became common knowledge.

Don't do it. It is a very bad idea. Dating someone you work with usually never ends well. If the person is the boss it will end even worse.

3

I think bad idea.....

Which ever one of you is the boss should know better. It's against company policy unless it's a family or other small business that doesn't have a policy. Very bad idea.

The exception is: if it is in a large company, the people are in different business units, and the boss isn't in the management chain of the employee. Even then, generally a bad idea. Everyone will find out eventually. If it ends badly, the employee is more likely to be laid off, marginalized, or fired. The boss is likely to be sued, subject to disciplinary action, and / or fired.

Usually a bad idea.

2

Almost the worst idea ever.

Okay, that sounds extreme.

But, really. Super super bad idea.

I would not give it an iota of consideration. Ever.

2

I wouldn’t ever consider it.

Bad idea... but I am no expert.

I dated and later married a girl who was a supervisor of mine when I was 16. We didnt date until I was 20, but married at 21. BIG MISTAKE!
I briefly lived with my bosses personal assistant, I was 2IC, so when he was away she reported to me. Work caused tension, at work, not between us. I look back and feel this relationship was one of the positive things in my llife. The only time I have been "In love". So it is the person, not the work relationship that is the issue.

1

It was really great until she fired me because I caught her with another co-worker. I was number 2 out of 3. You really have to be careful, like gambling with only the money you can afford to lose. I also was her first choice to cover shifts for everyone and it was a big secret at work but her new BF was an open secret...go figure...

I would say it's a bad idea but bad ideas make the best stories.

Therefore you should do it if you want a story and not do it if you want your job.

Generally a bad idea. Most people you date will finished in an ended relationship, and then work becomes awkward dealign with an ex every day at work.
