People get very attached to dogs and when you lose them it can be kind of rough.

My dog was hit and killed by a car 50 years ago and I still get depressed when I think about it because I blame myself .This type of situation is very hard to recover from when you love your dogs like they are part of the family .My condolences

Of course there is a point to your post. You feel sad, hurt and somehow abounded. I still am grieving for my cat that I had to put down after 25 years. She was very ill and there was nothing else to be done. I was not going to let her suffer. I feel guilty though, I feel like i was a bad pet owner, like I did not love her enough and even now writing this my eyes well up. Henry was loved by you and is still loved by you but it is hard, always hard. You will always remember him, they way he was, his little ways and how you loved him, how much joy he brought you and sometimes how annoyed he made you too.

Such a heartbreaking way to lose a companion in your life. My heart goes out to you. So awful to find him the way you did. Find comfort in knowing that you gave him a wonderful life and he gave you a lot in return, I'm sure of it.
