Yeah, it ALWAYS amazes me how everyone seems to connect something negative to being an Atheist when for me it is the exact opposite of anything negative.

My brother said to me "you don't believe, just because your life sucks"
And I said "is that not reason enough?" The whole time my life sucked, I was praying everyday, and following the word

A lot of theists think that somethign bad must happen for someone to become an atheist. I just realized that one set of myths was like the others. I also think a lot of theists secretly hope soemthign like happened so they can try to pretend that their life is so much better than an atheist's.

It is a threat to their beliefs to accept that you simply arrived at a considered, deliberate, thoughtful position. That admits the possibility that there's a logical path to atheism.

On the other hand if you're angry or confused or hurt or hateful or licentious or rebellious or misinformed then they can tell themselves that you're (1) responsible and (2) fixable. Far less threatening to their belief-system that way.

I have a few friends who assume that since I don't believe in their god I must be searching for what to believe in.

"Waking up" was a huge weight off my chest. The only downside being there are parts of me angry that I ever believed, because when i was young, did some dumb shit as a result of that belief.

One of my oldest friends died a couple if years ago. She was married to a terribly abusive man. She had a big mouth, and he beat her for it for 35 years. He found me on facebook and is amazed that I am an atheist. HE judges ME. This so-called "christian" who beat his wife to a bloody pulp on a regular basis for 35 years: judges me for my atheism. smDh.

hope you call him out on this loud and long

Singing "Born this way... Born this way....".... 😉

Tell her you have always known you were an atheist... That's just the way God made you.

Sometimes no matter how hard you try to explain it to them, they still don't get it. Hopefully this friend will understand.

We all wake up to reality.

You should have said your Reason took over your mind, and gave Faith the boot.

Funny how people always come to the conclusion that you must now hate god because of some tragedy in your life.

Stay awake my friend!!! It is truely sad that we must feel the need to defend our way of being in the world! But, don't fret, before long you will not care, how/what others think about your beliefs...it will just creep up on you!
