I went to an Assemblies of God church once. I saw people rolling around on the floor shortly after the pastor gave the alter call. I looked at this and said, fuck this insanity and left the building.

He's a good representative for atheism.

Never really thought about the kids being indoctrinated like the video shows... I 'kind of' grew up Catholic... ended up 'kind of' doing the same with my own daughter. Some how we didn't get pulled into the total believer mode. But this video is scary...

School sports teams, armed forces, religions are all manifestations of the same divisive dogms of tribalism. From the beginning of 'my school is better at **** than your school' through to 'my army is bigger better and badder than your army' or 'my god is all powerful and will destroy your god' - all are tribes that humans flock to join.
The problems start with what is taught to children, that their tribe is different and better than other tribes.
This teaching is only a block laid on a foundation stone of human evolution in that being part of a tribe gives an individual a greater chance of survival - useful when fending off sabre toothed tigers, less so when living alongside other tribes of humans.

The world didn’t change because I found out God didn’t exist; God had never existed in the first place. Everything kept moving, as it always had. I just knew that God wasn’t real. God wasn’t orchestrating a Grand Plan I had to figure out. Everything simply happened. This is refreshingly honest and open, in my mind about life not some church telling me what required and give 10%.

In addition to the children, he also addresses the problem of terrorist inspired by religion.

I wrote a song about that:

It is pretty said that so many people are caught grips of religion. I'm glad that there are some people who can find their way out of it's grips. I think we should feel fortunate that there are places online where people who have found their way out of it's grip can show support to each other.

I think i read somewhere that Religion and the people who attend services is in a downward trend, and that It most likely has much to do with people online getting better information about the lies brought by it, which is allowing them to break free. The more people that break free the less children that will be continuing the cycle of religion.

I'm so glad my parents were not caught so deep with religious zealotry, that when when I was young I was able to convince them to not make me go to Sunday School.

I saw a really disturbing documentary film a while back called Jesus Camp. This kind of thing reminds me of that.

The scenes at the end of this video are from "Jesus Camp".

@Eazyduzzit I thought so. Man, I am getting old and maybe a bit forgetful...

My dad died a month ago, so I've been acutely aware of how my family has dealt with his passing--as well as that of my mother 9 years ago. The problems with religion Dawkins describes are absolutely real, and I'm grateful to him for the honesty and courage he has shown on this topic for years. Like Carl Sagan, Stephen Hawking, and many others, Dawkins shows us the beauty in seeing the world as clearly as you are able. However, it is also true that a great many people find purpose and joy in the worship of deities, and relief from sorrow in stories of the afterlife.

If parents dragged their children into a doomsday cult, or exposed them to sexually explicit environments, the children would be removed by the government. Religion, to me, is in the same category of child abuse.

They are all evil and indoctrinating children should be a crime punishable by
death. Life in prison won't work because there are already too many religutards
in the prison system.
