Watched Avenger Endgame twice. Not bad.
These superheroes are secular gods. An improvement over religious gods because at least there are scientific underpinnings for their super powers.
Superman's from another star system. Plausible.
Iron Man is a super genius.
Spiderman gets bit by a mutant radioactive spider. Cool.
Wonder Woman's from another dimension. Or something.
Less preposterous than religious gods. Okay maybe JUST as much so. But not MORE ridiculous.
People want saviors! From themselves and their human natures.
In modernity, science can solve the problem!
Manipulate the genome to weed out undesirable agression without sacrificing desirable intelligence, drive and ambition; in fact enhance it and the rest of our capabilities!
It'd take a while to get it right, but given a worldwide effort and a trillion dollars or so, EVERYBODY in the future can be secular gods. Maybe not fly through the air or be invulnerable...super speed might be out of reach...but lots of other things are possible.
Once achieved, the need for religious and secular gods will vanish like the Invisible Man!

Comic book superheroes are a contemporary version of the old Olympian and Norse mythological gods and goddesses. Lots of parallels.

Wait until it is available on DVD. Then play it backwards at half-speed, the secret of everything will be revealed.

As opposed to the religious gods, at least superheroes actually "DO" something
to benefit people.
Okay, I'll give you the Greek and Norse gods, as far as "doing" stuff.

Don't see Jesus keeping Venice from sinking into the Adriatic, in the movies though, do ya?

It's all fiction, but at least superheroes are entertaining.

‘Manipulate the genome to weed out undesirable agression without sacrificing desirable intelligence, drive and ambition; in fact enhance it and the rest of our capabilities!’

That’s Eugenics!

Exactly what I was thinking. I guess he's not a Star Trek fan. 😛

Yes, eugenics... It's just Hitler and other schmos gave it a bad name. Not happening but it's POSSIBLE.

@Storm1752 I am sure it will happen, probably is happening!

I really enjoyed your post despite the fact I don't enjoy superhero movies--except Wonder Woman, but that's because of Gal Gadot.

Gal Gadot is most certainly an Amazon. That smile! *swoons

You’re missing out
There are tons of super powerful women in comics
Rogue is an amazing character
Dark Phoenix - Jean Grey
Ms Marvel
She-Hulk
Mystique
Invisible Woman
Wasp
Black Cat
Storm
Black Widow
Elecktra
Psychlocke
Emma Frost
Tons more

All bad asses

@darthfaja It's just not my genre. I prefer Jane Eyre, Pride and Prejudice, and the other super hero women of the Victorian era. 😂

@ElusiveMoby
😊

Wonder Woman was much better than I expected. Gal Gadot was fine. All the Amazons were. Wonder Woman was a demi-god, right?
Btw, while looking it up, I came across "demisexual." There's a new one! "A person who does not experience sexual attraction without first establishing a strong emotional bond."

@Storm1752 I like that. Thanks Storm.

I'm out of context here with my reply but I mean to see this film soon. Glanced at it this morning some in Fluxus playlist, Hollywood Movies 10. I want to see it from the beginning. You can watch this with VLC. I also have a Russian player that is based on VLC but has other refineries in it. When I first got into IPTV the streams would hang, stutter, and stop. Watching was impossible. The cure was to go into my router and select a DNS that is different than my ISP DNS. What does this mean? It means that the ISP will block you because what you are doing is a treat to what they want to show you for profit. Now it all works fine.

@icolan My reply had no more relevance than yours and I did not say changing my DNS would mean the ISP would block me. I said changing my DNS fixed the problem. Research it on You Tube for complete answers. I also do use encryption.

@icolan You appear to be having a fit while we are really saying the same thing. That is exactly why they would block you so change your DNS and take it out of their hands. Problem solved.

@icolan Then I suppose a VPN is useless. Funny that they seem to work for me.

@icolan Is this going anywhere? I'm my own IT and I do what works for me. I'm not here to beat a dead horse.

Unfortunately the genome is so complicated that there are generally unexpected consequences. In Russia they decided to aid the fox for farmers by breeding tamer foxes. After a few generations they had a creature that was dog like in temperament, but also looked more like a dog, and was no longer valued for its fur. On the plus side a nice pet.

Making eugenics great again? Yikes.

While some of what you say is true, you’ve missed the point of super hero’s and comics.

The entire X-Men series especially in regards to Wolverine is based off genetic and physical experimentation to create super humans or to reverse it.

Most comic book hero’s and villains are forced to live in torturous dual reality.
Super hero’s are out casts and not excepted. Often times hunted and hated.
They are freaks of society.
They were created for people who ‘don’t fit in’ to society’s molds or for people who had intellectual, psychological, or physical deformities

So they get this amazing superpower
But it comes at a huge price

Rogue just wants to be loved but will kill anyone she touched
The Thing is a big softie sweet heart with a body made of rock
The hulk is a genius trapped inside a Neanderthal
Iron Man is on a race against time to stay alive
Spawn is in hell trying to save the world

Thor is one of the best characters because he actually is a god.

Many comics were created to help people feel like they fit in and they belong. Characters created that are relatable, messed up, but do the right thing. People who will stand up to bullies and do what’s right no matter the cost.

True heroes not just because of their strengths and powers, but heroes in their core.

Spider-man has always been my favorite. A nerd that was picked on and beat up. He just wanted the girl. Well now he can get her but his responsibility prevents it.

‘With great power comes great responsibility.’

I let a bunch of radioactive spiders bite me, but all I got was cancer.
