I buy everything second hand, except like merch at shows, so probably $25 for a tshirt

I do the second-hand thing too, I think it's better for the economy, reduces waste and you can find better quality clothing, they usually stand the test of time and of course, better prices.

@Redcupcoffee Ironically, I am reading this as I have just returned home from a shopping trip to the Goodwill and Salvation Army stores. Half-price on green tags today at S. A. - Got some real bargains. A $2.00 pair of shorts is the most expensive item of clothing I bought today smile001.gif

@PappyOnWings Yea, last week was a half off all the clothing, I was there at 7AM to get a good deal and boy did I. I'm all for thrift shopping. I can't imagine paying full price at a mall or dept store.

I always strike out at thrift stores. It is such a bummer. I love the idea, but I never find anything good or worthwhile.

@MarvelAnn Before I went thrift shopping, I'd imagine what item I wanted, and in what size. Then I'd confidently head for the nearest yard sale or thrift shop and look around to spot it. It was always there!
My mom and daughter did the same thing,,scoring full length leather coats that fit as though custom made, London tailored suits for my dad, etc. We didn't worry about it..just put in our "orders" to the "universe" and it appeared.

I'm such a cheapskate I don't spend anything on clothes unless I have to, probably explains why I'm unattached, but £80 on a Minnesota Vikings jacket many moons ago smile001.gif

I got a real leather Vikings jacket at Savers for 8 bucks...made my week- that was two sizes ago...just got a 2X hoodie on EBAY that I could not fit into...China ....I have about 30 hats and over 50 shirts....SKOL!

@Purplefan2 Skol! smile001.gif

These custom-made Cleveland Browns-colored Converse All-Stars... Cost $80...

Very cool!!! Good gift idea for a sports fan too!!

Where’d you get those?!?!?!?! I’m excited for this up-coming season!!!!!!!

@PeppermintDreads I designed them myself on the Converse web site...

One of many leather jackets - a trench at $700 years ago. I still rock it on the regular smile001.gif
Both of my wedding dresses were off the rack, both under $100. I've never seen the point of blowing big money on wedding stuff.

Save that money for the divorce.

@LEPeff It just occurred to me that my first dress cost EXACTLY what that divorce cost!!! $50 dress $50 sheriff fee/papers .If only the second one had the same $$ count smile003.gif

@AmiSue I'm envious.

I have a coach satchel=Aka "Man Purse" that was 350$ but it was a gift

I have a leather coat like the ones in the movie lost boys. I bought it in Korea in 1988 my friend and I each got one it cost us 60$ each back then. Had seen one in the leather store similar to mine the price tag was 700$. I know the can you sell it for that factor comes into play. My dingo boots are 130$

A leather jacket, I believe it was around $150 or so

3

A suit jacket that cost about $100, it was part of a suit I put together for job interviews about 3 years ago. I haven't worn it since. I got the job and stopped looking. The new job more than paid for the suit.

I don't usually buy expensive clothes. Good quality is my preference. The most expensive for me was a leather jacket that cost around $400

3

Army uniforms, they only cost 6 years of my life.

That is a very high price to pay.

That is a very high price to pay.

@Redcupcoffee Yes, it was. I got some fabulous experience from it, and my kids can truly say "my mama wore combat boots."

@arronpaul46 Thank you!! It is really easy to be pretty at 20something, as I realize how old that picture is. Circa 1980.

$1,200 silk Armani shirt, but it was on clearance and I got it for $300

WOW. Do you still wear it?

@Shelton Yep, it's great.. I've had it for about 8 years now and it's still in perfect condition. It's a long sleeve, black button up shirt that can be used for both dressing up and more casual situations. I call it my "second date shirt"..

@SteveW That's great. It is nice to be able to fit into clothes that you have had for years.

I splurged and bought myself a pair of brown boots, you know, the trendy kind people wear with leggings. I spent $150 on them and love them so much. I was in that store a few months later and they had the same boots on clearance for $40 in black. Now I have both colors!!

3

A Brooks Bros. woollen coat, which cost me £800 (around $1100) - I felt like an absolute scumbag (and an utter failure of a socialist) for spending so much on an item of clothing, but it was a once-in-a-lifetime thing and I really like a nice coat.

Schuberth s1 Pro Motorcycle helmet £650.00

A parka for really cold Alaskan weather, I think at $250 about 25 yrs ago it might have been the most expenive thing I have ever bought. It paid for itself when I had to roam campus at -40 degrees F. So even though I know that is nothing compared to others, it was pretty hard to come up with that kind of money when a single mom full time student.
I gave it to my friend from Figi when I left Alaska.

A freaking pair of glasses $350. Geez, what you have to do to see in this world.

I have paid $200 for a pair of shades once. I will not do that again!

@Shelton I saw a show one time that went into the sunglass industry and showed that the cheaper manufacturers were getting their lenses from the same places that more expensive manufacturers were getting them. In a nutshell you were paying for name only when buying sunglasses.

@Darthpug You are correct. I was young and dumb at that time.

150 dollar Loki dress....I regret nothing.

Avengers Loki? Awesome.

2

Probably a pair of Jordans. They were like $140. I got them for free though. If we count sun glasses, then it was a pair of Oakley's that cost a little bit more than $300. I got those for free too lol. Also a suit. I have one that cost about $900. I got it for about a little bit less than half price though.

2

New hiking boots. $180.

2

When I was in college nearing graduation (1977) I bought a three peice taylored wool suit, ivory color, $400 (a lot then). It was great and I looked like the shit then, thin, bushy curly, brunet/redish hair.

It's gone! Now, it's all gone.

2

Several hundred $ on motorcycle clothing and gear. Seemed like a good occasion not to cheap out.

2
