I will absolutely refuse to answer anytime anyone asks me if I'm a citizen of the US.
I will definitely tell whomever asks that question to fuck right off.
I don't care if it gets me arrested.
They should add the question "Do you believe in getting rid of trump no matter what it takes?" I think it is against the law to speak of overthrowing the government by force, so I guess saying that is not covered under free speech.
Well, it is in the Declaration of Independence.
"...when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government..."
Ditto!!! The last time this question was on the census was 70 years ago. While J. Edgar Hoover headed up the FBI and Sen McCarthy was In office.
EGADS are we back to THAT!
I had every intention of writing in my answer to the citizen question: "Fuck you and Fuck Mr Trump. You do not have the right to ask that question". Kinda upset that I don't get that opportunity now. This reminds me... I still have to mail that $20 bill to the White House with the caption: "Fuck Mr Trump and his bullshit tax plan. This is what it saved me."
Same here. In friendly conversation I have no issue but any authority figure has no right to ask that question just cause they think they can. That said I'm a white woman and so there is very little risk of that happening. BUT I find what is happening in this country extremely disturbing and have felt this way for sometime. It is escalating.
I agree totally, KK. Notice that rather than have this citizenship question on a 2020 census Trump and his buddies have now decided to go with past records to solve the issue. Maybe someone told them that the illegals would just lie about it anyway. They never thought of that.
Yesterday at my work a man went psycho on ideas of language and goods made in other countries. He was a Trumper extra-ordinare and raged like a lunatic. Later I asked my boss how long our products have had both Spanish and English instructions on them. My boss is not a young man and his answer was "for as long as he can remember."
I wish I could be there, should it ever happen!
I have no problem with admitting to being American most of the time, because usually it takes no time between them learning that and also learning that I am an anti-war activist. I have nearly 4000 friends on Facebook, and every one of them knows that. Despite its reputation, Facebook IS a good forum for spreading ideas, because when you hit on something, it not only is seen by your friends, but also by their friends when they share it, their friends who share it, and so on . . . . . so it can go far and wide. An example . . . .
There is an upside and a downside to social media. Standing ones ground, presenting your position and refusing to engage with hate mongers is the way I have found to deal.
It’s not something which I exactly advertise either. If I’m asked where I’m from when I’m a foreign country, I’ll say, but I don’t run around in God Bless The USA t-shirts or anything like that. Nor will I sit there and attempt to defend my governments repugnant behavior.
Wouldn't know why would anyone would wish to be American now ....
