I was listening to a song, and the main thrust of the lyrics were: If you walked a mile in my shoes.

I like that concept. It's powerful. But I wonder, are they willing to walk the mile in the shoes of those they're singing to.

It seems like we're often asking other people to do for us what we're not doing for them. Maybe not on purpose, but it certainly is a blind spot.

Yes, definitely a problem in people. I see this quality in others in small and big ways often. It is very off putting. I notice it in myself at times too. I guess the best we can do is acknowledge it and try to do better.
