I get so pissed off by all this trying to avoid the actual issue. The UK probably has as many one parent families but the boys don't go and shoot up their school.It's the gun culture that's the problem and everyone knows it.

Partial truth dysfunctional family is more common and then not all from that end up that way

I raised two sons from toddlerhood without a father. Both my sons are excellent, kind, ethical, productive, strong men. I couldn't be prouder. They are saddened and horrified by mass shootings but they are the kind of men who would help people get to safety, not the kind who pull triggers. When children are fatherless, we need to be blaming fathers instead of single moms. More often than not, it was the father who did the abandoning.

I agree with a lot of his analysis, but he doesn't really reach any meaningful conclusion or make any recommendations. I also expect that not very many people will take this seriously because of certain viewpoints.

All that being said, I am a strong proponent of the idea that people are what you make them to be, and I hope we have a shift in our culture from seeing crime as failure of the individual to seeing it as a failure of the state to provide the tools necessary for the individual to achieve their full potential.

I have to agree with this. A nuclear family is the best way to raise children. I've been criticized on Agnostic. Com for stating this. My experience as a mentor for young men designated as "problem" children proves this to me. Single mother households are by far the source of our "guys". Second most common is a home with an abusive father figure.

I didnt watch the video---but I have always preached that it is the best when there is a committed relationship and really, a marriage. I have seen a study that the father wasnt as important as the money he brings in. So if your going to be a single Mom with not much of a father than you best be rich. ----I am a single mother of one daughter.
