Obituaries paint flattering portraits of the Dayton shooter and the sister he killed

The family of the Dayton, Ohio, shooter has published glowing obituaries of both the gunman and one of the first casualties in the massacre -- his younger sister, 22-year-old Megan Betts.

The obituaries were published Tuesday on the website for the Conner & Koch Life Celebration Home in Bellbrook, Ohio, but the remembrance for gunman Connor Betts was removed Wednesday at the family's request, according to the funeral home.

I wanted to wait and see what comments are posted by members. Some comments are just shameful.

Parents, family, relatives, friends singing ballads of his adorability is just fucking sick and everybody sympathizing here with parents show no empathy.

The right thing to say for these lousy parents is this.... "we did not realize we were raising a monster. He killed innocent people including children. We hope he rots in hell."

I wonder how we all would react if this was a black or Muslim man (both U.S. citizens). If black or Muslim parents posted obituaries like this, we all be outraged and have pounced on the ethnicity, religion and background of the whole family dissecting the story in the media every day. Think about it.

That reminds me, have you seen baby Hitler's photo? Adorable, isn't he?

Yes, every single person incarcerated in prisons around the world for heinous crimes - millions of them was a cute baby once.

That is why it irks me when people put young age photos in dating profiles and even flash them elsewhere to show how beautiful /handsome I was then. Drives me nuts.

They lost a son and daughter in a shooting, just as other families lost someone, so they will grieve just like everyone else and add the fact it was their son who did the shooting..... that is a lot of shit to hit anyones life. I don;t think I would have posted any obituary for the son, kept it close and personal. In a few weeks some ghost writer will do the life story - film rights - they could become millionaires - who knows .... and would it be worth that trauma

I find this analysis of what the parents chose to post as obituaries for both their children distasteful and insensitive. I’m sure they loved both of them, it must be hard for them to come to terms with losing them both, and even harder for them to realise that their son caused not only his sister’s death, but that of many others. They are in shock, and grief, and bewilderment, and undoubtedly feeling guilt too. It must be an unbearable burden for them to bear, one that nobody can understand or feel, and allowances should made for any lack of judgement made by them.

What exactly would you expect his family to post?

He turned a devil we thought we did not raise. He hurt other people. We are sorry.

@St-Sinner
Doubtful a family would do that this soon. After they bury him. Hopefully.

@bigpawbullets
Then this heinousness of the crime is on them too. Parents who do not admit the ugliness of the crime and the hurt / pain it caused to others by their children are sick and responsible too. I hope some day there will be laws about holding parents responsible for children's crimes (may be up to 21).

After all he had done you would think they should know better.
