GREENLAND SAYS... "WE ARE NOT FOR SALE!"

Trump asked aides if the United States could buy Greenland (possibly for oil drilling) from Denmark and Greenland and Denmark said NO. [cnn.com]

However, China is Is Buying Up Worldwide Agriculture Interests, USDA has confirmed it. China has a lot of people and needs more food and more land. [southeastproduceweekly.com]

Altough Trump's wish or offer to buy a country is arrogant and outrageous, many farmers are leasing agricultural lands in other countries. Bangladesh and Indian farmers have leased lands in African countries where they can face less regulations, get cheap labor, tax advantages and easier export opportunities.

Do you think if not today, the fossil fuel industry will pressure the United States government to buy or lease lands in other countries for oil drilling? I believe it will especially when the regulations drilling and refining fossil fuel get harder.

We already know that the tobacco industry's sales in other countries have remained stable or increased in spite of the tightening regulations in the U.S.

Are we likely to see that attempt by the powerful fossil fuel industry?

Sometimes I wonder if all of this is happening for a reality TV show that some producer pitched as "what if get some ridiculous idiot be elected president who does stupid shit and we make show out of it?" "We'll call it "Punk'd: the Presidency"

I bet the first season is slated for Fall 2021.

He is probably looking to the future. When it gets too hot in Florida he can build a resort in Greenland .and even have ice for the drinks in is bars from the remnants of the Greenland glaciers.

I was thinking the exact same thing perhaps he's seeing in the future a beach resort.

Following World War II, the U.S. under President Harry Truman developed a geopolitical interest in Greenland and in 1946 offered to buy it from Denmark for $100 million. Denmark refused to sell. And that was the second failed attempt—the State Department had also launched an inquiry into buying Greenland and Iceland in 1867. [wsj.com]

I can definitely see the USA attempting this. I think it will take place in the Artic. Russia and the USA are already flexing there.

trump is investing for the future. I think he figures when he finishes melting Greenland's ice sheet he can build more golf coarse.
