I thought that this news from Canada’s Supreme Court would be of interest here. What do you think of this decision? [hopeforourtimes.com]

Of course. LGBT rights are about real things and real people. You religious rights are something between you and several versions of the invisible man.

Also proud of my adopted province: "Ontario, British Columbia and Nova Scotia law societies denied the school accreditation, on the grounds that it required all students to sign a covenant binding them to a code of conduct which banned sex outside the confines of heterosexual marriage."

Let's see what the tRumpsters do to retaliate. Maybe Canada should build their own southern wall.

Well done, Canada! Love it!

That is fantastic!

I think in terms of priority, almost everything should come before religious beliefs, but it appears to work almost exactly the opposite here in the USA.

Maybe this is beside the point, but I always wonder how these laws (or "rules" ) imagine how anyone would be "caught" breaking them. Do they have cameras or police peeking in people's bedroom windows?

It must be exhausting trying to stop people from freely doing things behind closed doors.

That makes me proud of my adopted country.

I didn't know you were Canadian.

I applaud this decision, no one is denied their right to believe as they want, what this says is you can not force your beliefs on others and expect to have the government sanction it by accreditation.
Now if we could only get that thru the heads of some of our elected officials in the U.S.

Religious beliefs?

Bottom of the list. EVERY aspect of equality, justice, etc. should come first.

Well at least some countries get it right.

LOVE it! Tweeting it! That would never happen here in our Islamic....I mean "Christian" theocracy! #ChristianShariaLaw

You're preaching to the choir here, love the decision.

Canada’s supreme court rules that lgbt rights come before your religious beliefs

there is justice sometimes.

We have much to learn from Canada

@ToolGuy - How do you "meddle" in US politics??? Do you hack into voting machines to change votes? Do you run false ads on Facebook? Having an opi ion and stating it on an open forum can't be considered meddling. We are all allowed opinions on international politics.

@ToolGuy - I never thought you actually meddled, it was only to define what meddling actually is. I have become rather disgusted with the nature of American democracy recently because I don't believe those like the Koch brother (even if they are only 1 now) have any business trying to influence ele tions outside their home district and the candidates who will be representing them. I wish I could keep their money out of my state's elections because my candidates are supposed to represent me and the people where I live - not the Kochs. Citizens United was a terrible decision from our court because it undermines the little guy in American politics up and down the sentire ele toral process. Sorry for the rant, but this issue hits a nerve for me. Btw, as far as I am concerned, your opinions on American politics are welcome hear anytime.

Its only right.....but with our courts being what they are.....not holding my breath

Awesome! Now we need every other country to do this.

Though I am definitely not Gay, etc, and have been heterosexual ( straight) all my life I applaud Canada for their stance.
Religions of ANY kind belong, if they ever did, in Churches, Temples, etc, etc, and NOT in the private sex lives of others.
For example, for almost 2 millenia the Catholic Church has railed against and persecuted those who are not heterosexual in nature BU, as we ALL aware, Homosexuality has been practiced among Priests, Bishops, Cardinals and the like for as long as Catholicism has been around, it IS a case of the Pot calling the Kettle black with a very over-liberal dose of " Don't do as WE do, do as WE tell you" tossed in for good measure.

So, does this ruling say anything about extra-marital sex? It seems a little unfair to me if gay individuals at that institution are allowed to do what they want as long as it's with someone of the same gender, but everyone else still isn't allowed to.

I think it's the right decision in principle. I guess the market couldn't sort it out for reasons I don't know.

Human rights over religious rights. I'm good with that.

And, I'm all for LGB people to be considered equal.

I am completely opposed to special rights and privileges for Men who claim to be women.

You can dress and behave however you wish. But, men are NOT women no matter how they claim they FEEL. And they "deserve" ONLY equal rights. Nothing more.

But, creating laws that create more protected classes only creates more chaos.

Jacar, you don’t understand what happens in a uterus.
A fetus starts as female. Its genitalia differentiate first, Its brain differentiates second.
For about 1%, one or the other does not differentiate.
Check it out and learn.
