Creepiest church memory: I was at a prayer meeting w/my grandma. A man there kept staring at me the whole time. Afterwards, he came up to me & told me "God told me to give you this" & handed me a $20 bill.

What is your creepist/bizarre/strange church memory?

That would definitely freak me out. Most religious people are good people though.

This is a from my wife .The last time she was in a confessional booth the priest asked if she went to church on a regular basis .When she replied no he replied get out of here .She came to her senses and never went back.

WOW! And now they have resulted to advertising on radio around here in order to shore up their diminishing ranks.

My friend and I walked into a church one night in Matfield in Kent (England) at about 10 pm just because, and the organ was playing, but no one there to play it!

We left well before matins!

The church of Vincent Price.

@vjohnson51 Yes, promise. Obviously someone somewhere playing an organ but certainly spooked us out!

Are you sure he was a criminal or just your wild imaginary thoughts. Did kindness and love scare you. What is your problem?

if you honestly think a man staring creepily at a girl and giving her $20 was for purely altruistic reasons.... you have lead a very sheltered life.

I'd have said "He told me to tell you to get a hearing aid - he was using this to prove to you that you're going deaf, and he actually said $20,000 not $20."

A seance of humor. Yes.

You should have said, "ok, here is your change Einstein", and handed him a penny.

How old were you then?

@vjohnson51 It was really creepy when you were so young. 😟

I have been an atheist since age 13. After spending the night at a girlfriend's house at 15, her parents said, "We will take you home after church."

At their church, people were shrieking, moaning and speaking in tongues. They collapsed on floor with their eyes rolled up. Freaked me out.

"I will wait for you outside," I told my friend and fled, horrified.

I would have walked home. Even if it was thirty miles.
