So if NASA does find signs of life (biosignatures) on Mars how do you think the religious community will respond? I think they will lose a few believers but a majority will dismiss it as part of gods plan.

Note - they've worked around the existence of dinosaurs that are not mentioned in the Bible yet were clearly here on Earth - and these do not fit with the young Earthers history. So I suspect they will make up some way to make this compatible (like there were Martians along with dinosaurs on the arc!) with their beliefs.

If it doesn't fit their narrative they will simply stick their heads in the sand.

Well, given some of them cling to the belief in a flat earth and deny all kinds of science, I am sure they would just say it is all just "fake news."

About 99% of religilots have no clue studies are being done. Proofs are for the scientific.

They don't care.

Not "dismiss." Inclusion. Proof of the mystery of god.

They will begin to worship little green men on mars as there new god, no, they would probably think that the devil planted it there, or their gods plan, or some explanation they will come up with they always have that ace playing card in the sleeve.

Mars? What's a Mars? 🤥

This should answer your question...

I don’t see how something like that would affect religious people. Why would anyone stop believing because of that?

You're taljing about the idiiots who forced Galileo to say that the earth was the center of the universe until fairly recently when they had to apologize "for their mistake" but never for their stupidity.

Some religious groups are more liberal than others- Non-orthadox Jews and many Catholics (the current Pope included) say that god made science so god uses science, et cetera. It's really the fundamentalists that are the very worst.
