Your mindset suggest the qualities of a person who categorizes the many based of the actions of one or a few . There have been many atrocities committed during war by soldiers and civilians alike . You would have thrive as one who would have sat in judgement during Salem witch trials , condemning those who did not share your views . There are countless stories of soldiers assisting and helping those who were and are affected by war , I have seen it first hand , any soldier that sat back idly and watched any war crime is not a soldier but a coward because we live by the Geneva convention . A soldier is obligated to follow that code of conduct, so your source is a coward . As far as your rhetoric, you are welcome to it but it is based in nonsense and in reality you would be slaughtered by those who would want the resources your land had to offer , unfortunately that is real life . Yes, I googled your Brutus Papers and only found that it was a series of essays penned by someone calling himself Brutus (considered to be 2 people one from Poughkeepsie & one from Salem) that opposed adoption of the proposed constitution. Did not find anything stating we should not have a standing army only they disagreed with part of the constitution.
As far as Dresden, who makes the decision to bomb anything? Politicians & Generals. Period. The majority of our military are enlisted, even many of the officers are just following the orders. IF possible, in a perfect world, everyone would have all the information where all bombs are going to be dropped but that is not possible. They have to go with the information they have, if they don't have info to dispute it - they have to follow orders.

I'm a Vet. I am sorry for the Vietnam war. But at that time in history, communist hatred was high. Later in life, I watched Vietnam become a thriving communist market and still have human abuse cases.
But that is not our concern. We already did enough damage to "bring democracy" to the "ignorant".
We in the USA have human abuse and are doing nothing about it.
We can no longer dictate other countries political future.
