❤️You are holding a cup of coffee when someone comes along and bumps into you or shakes your arm, making you spill your coffee everywhere.

Why did you spill the coffee?

"Because someone bumped into me!!!"

Wrong answer.

You spilled the coffee because there was coffee in your cup.

Had there been tea in the cup, you would have spilled tea.

Whatever is inside the cup is what will spill out.

Therefore, when life comes along and shakes you (which WILL happen), whatever is inside you will come out. It's easy to fake it, until you get rattled.

So we have to ask ourselves... “what's in my cup?"

When life gets tough, what spills over?

Joy, gratefulness, peace and humility?

Anger, bitterness, harsh words and reactions?

Life provides the cup, YOU choose how to fill it.

Today let's work towards filling our cups with gratitude, forgiveness, joy, words of affirmation; and kindness, gentleness and love for others ❤️

I cannot tell you how much I love this. Been reeling lately. Thank you for the grounding.

when life got tough it was usually blood that spilled, mine and others. Life became too tough when the blood was mixed with the brains and bone of a friend. I don't have any joy, gratefulness, peace, himility or forgiveness left ... and I hold the burning anger deep in my heart, and endeavour to be kind and gentle and reserve my love for a very select few

Well yes... but no.
It is a nice message but the argument is a common wrong use of the 4 causes concept (and believe me, politicians and people that like to distort the narrative loves to do that.

Basically the Important part of the phenomena is the agent(someone), end(spilled) and the form(bumped) causes, but then you change the focus to material (coffee) cause that in this case is not that important and don't change that much the consequences.

Yes, but I am not coffee and coffee is not inside me. Spill my coffee once and I might call you clumsy. If it continues I might have harsh words for you. I feel this way regardless of what I am drinking. In the end it is what it is.

I love this anology. It will serve as a reminder.

It all looks great on paper but in reality does it always work out that way? Or is it required for someone to consciously think about their response before providing it.
Stay away from the coffee!😎

Yeah well what's in my cup isn't as important as what I spilled them on. And they are not entirely on my choices.

2

I don't spill what is inside of me.... you bumping me or godzilla bumping me. I am not a cup!!!! What is a cup doing here????

Well I spilt my beer that one time😄

Do atheists take themselves too seriously? It's an anecdote. Relax.

Ugh, i dislike these fake positive thoughts so much because it promotes bad and illogical thinking. This is so much of what religious people do to justify their beliefs and actions, I'm getting ptsd of all the past bullsh!t I had to put up with as a youth arguing with religious people.

Let's analyze: the question "Why did you spill the coffee?" Is annoying to me because it makes an implicit assumption that I, the cofee holder, spilled the coffee. It seeks to shift blame and divert attention from the actual person to blame.
It,s even more annoying to read "You spilled coffee because you had coffee in it." Shifting the focus from the action (spilling) to something irrelevant (the contents being spilled). Arrrgggh! Why!? It makes no sense!

Then reducing complex human emotions to someone CHOOSING what emotions to fill themselves with like one does with the contents of a cup, and complex human behavior and actions in a trauma to the act of spilling cup. Really!?

So many alarms went off reading this really bad way of thinking. Please, OP, I know it probably feels nice to have a simple way to describe very complex things, but...it's so wrong. Logically and ethically, wrong.

Have you looked in the cup recently? Must be nice to live in such a special bubble...not everyone is so lucky. A better question is: what have you done recently for someone in need, who may not be so lucky?

It's great when a person of abundance helps a person of need

@MsHoliday You're right, I don't know your experience. I meant no harm, but it is hard to keep a positive attitude sometimes and your post sounded like something from quotes are us. Sorry it felt so personal.

Not sure what would come out if I were shaken

Sometimes I'm full of crap, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the person who made me spill it wasn't already in deep crap. Self awareness and awareness of others both important not always functioning well in the heat of the moment. Life is challenging.

Thank you. I have coffee in my cup today. I put a teaspoon of Turmeric in the coffee grounds. It makes a very healthy cup of coffee.
