Black Friday. I have not left my home for any reason on Black Friday since it was invented! There is Nothing, at Any price including "free" that could induce me to do so.
Now, go ahead & tell me what wonderful bargains you got....still not leaving this house today

Black Friday...

1

The other downside of black Friday is it is kind of the first day of the Xmas TV floodgates opening.

I went to the mailbox and onto the patio to fill the bird feeder.

The only time I have ever taken part in a Black Friday type event, was one year when my camera had committed suicide in October, I had been shopping for replacements and the one that had been out of my price range that I really wanted was $300 off but only between 7am and 9am on a Saturday. That was over 10 years ago. I shop hard enough that I normally get a good enough deal without having to fight crowds.

My sentiments exactly..

I am totally with you on this. When I was working I usually had to work the day after Thanksgiving. As a bus driver, it was never much fun! 😁 There is no, I repeat, no bargain that would get me out of bed at 5:00 in the morning to go shopping with hoards of crazy people!

One advantage of living on an island. No big box stores (or even little ones) to temp you.

I get to take my mom to the doctors, then help them put up the 4 gazillion Xmas decorations my stepdad carved.

Thankfully I don’t do decoration post Thanksgiving either. I have elves (my sister and her husband) that arrive shortly before Christmas and go crazy putting up every decoration I have accumulated over the past 50 years! My only job is to take it all down as soon after Christmas as I can. I have no problem doing that!

Fuck black Friday..ugh!

My local sugaring studio has a sale on their services. I'll be going there today... 3 Brazilians for $100. I think I'll get 2 packages. I'll be set for the next 8 months! Otherwise, I never do black Friday shopping.

I don't recall having heard of sugaring hair removal before. Sounds interesting. Essentially making a sticky soft sugar candy and using it instead of wax, and apparently very DIY.

I don't shop on black friday either.. I don't need anything that badly... Too many horror stories on this day...

Crap! I forgot it's Black Friday. I have to buy some groceries tomorrow (well, later today, technically). Ugh, I don't wanna. 😭

Leftovers? Tuna? Cereal? Fasting day? All preferable by far!

@AnneWimsey 😂 All good ideas, but yesterday was mostly a fasting day already because my cupboards are bare and I didn't do anything at all for Thanksgiving. I'll make do until later in the day and hope that the Black Friday shoppers have mostly dispersed by then. 😬

@resserts yeah, after noon the bargains dry up anyway.....

@AnneWimsey And then it's back to the usual crowd of Walmart shoppers. Haha!

There is a 24 hour Walmart near the house. There shouldn't be a crowd after midnight.

..can you believe the only thing I needed for a work-related project was at Walmart … what a Circus 😕

Funny … I’ll occasionally check a word definition to see if I’ve spelled it right: “a traveling company of acrobats, clowns, and other entertainers which gives performances, typically in a large tent, in a series of different places.” Well.. they all traveled to get there 😀

My favorite Black Friday activity is to go out in the desert about 40 miles and walk around the arboretum with my camera, taking pictures.

A couple things ‘at work’ in need of doing, at my leisure.. But wading through the lemmings in order to accomplish my tasks will not be fun. There’s nothing I want or need I haven’t already acquired, at least in the spectrum of inanimate objects ~

I'll go to the corner grocery store to get something for dinner, but other than that I'm staying home.

On second thought, I might go to the lunch counter at my pharmacy and get something there. I'm sure it won't be busy.

My pharmacy plays Christmas Music. I try to stay far away.

@GeorgeRocheleau I live in a very red and very christian part of Missouri. I've learned to ignore it.

Heck no. Not leaving the house today, and even if I did I wouldn't even go near the big retailers. I'm disappointed many of them even opened on Thanksgiving, requiring their employees to come in and cut short on time with their families.

2

Never. It’s an awful circus. I just don’t understand the draw.
I’ll be working tho, no sweat 🙂. Happy not to be in sales this week, especially.

You do know I hope that the tradition of the original 'Black Fridays' is based upon the day when the Pope colluded with the Heads of Europe to exterminate the Knights Templar because the Knights Templar R\refused, point blank, to further fund the extravagances of the Papal Committees, etc.
Ergo, 'Black Friday' has nothing to do with black cats, walking under ladders, etc, that are supposed to bring bad luck.

I'm with you on this, never BF shopped and never intend to. Since I'm off work rehabbing this year though, I may go to my fav Thinker Toy store for the grandies since I need to get a parcel sent out to them. Saturday is a designated "local shopping" day so I may look to that for adult kids.

I’m not leaving either. Some of my family do ALL their shopping on Black Friday. No, thanks!
