It's ironic when a Christian say that gays have more rights than them now. And that's simply because Christians don't have as much control over people's bedrooms and personal life as they used to. These bigots love to play the victim!!!

Persecution is the Catch Cry of most religions, Christianity in particular.
Without their totally imaginary persecutions they 'd be bereft of anything to support their endless pushes for Religious Freedoms, those same freedoms that they have enjoyed and reveled in for the past 1,600+ years.

Equality feels like oppression when you are used to privilege.

That's worth quoting. Will post it in the quotes group.

I like this....going use it for sure

What is really ironic is that this sentiment was (as far as anyone can tell) from a 1997 a message posted by Mike Jebbett to the Usenet discussion newsgroup as an anti-feminist trope.

"Women like her are suffering from a condition I call “Advanced Pedestalism”. Which basically means that they [women] have been living on the high side for so long, equality looks like oppression."

No earlier instance have as yet been discovered.

@LenHazell53 Irony is everywhere. For example, toxic masculinity originated from the mythopoetic men's movement of the 1980s and 1990s, not from feminists.

@dokala I was not aware of that, thank you

@dokala thank you also. That makes sense, thinking back..

Once they're told they cannot discriminate against anyone, they scream that they're the ones being discriminated against.
Everyone has the SAME rights. The christians just want to treat everyone they consider "less than" themselves as less than human.
Fuck them.

Your are very right. Their doctrine even teaches them at a young age to expect to be persecuted for their beliefs. And for them persecution translates into not being allowed to control the behavior of others,

Christians will always say they are persecuted because it says in the gospels that they will be persecuted. Cry babies, yes, but this is the bottom line. Republicans pick up on it and here you go.

9

It is a time tested trick to blame your opponent for what you are doing yourself

9

The gay movement has challenged the notion that most people support their views of what's moral. In Australia, more than 62% voted against the Christian view and supported gay marriage. Christians have realised they are in the minority and they don't like it. yes, they are bigots

9

My personal favorite is the "gay agenda" or the "trans agenda." As if there's some handbook and monthly meetings you need to review before you are accepted.

Don't forget Pat Robertson throwing in that gay men have a special ring and handshake, etc. The ring scratched you to expose you to the AIDS that they are carrying. Oh, those evil men!

Christians: we can't control people's life as much as we used to before. We are so persecuted....
Public: 😂😂😂

8

Play the victim.

8

The complaint isn't "more" rights, it's "the same" rights.

Complain about a Gay Rights parade? Well, nobody needs a Christian Rights parade, because Christians have been a privileged group since the founding of the Colonies. There are actually 6 states with blasphemy laws still on the books (including Michigan, to my undying shame).

When religious restrictions no longer trump secular rights, that's when the complaints start.

7

It's amazing when not being able to control others is defined as being controlled. My ex used to pull that on me.

They have that mentality ... if you walk away or fight back when they harass you, they believe you are treating them badly. "I didn't deserve to get punched ... all I did was block his way when he tried to walk down the sidewalk."

Mine too. Expecting him to not do things that harmed me was “controlling” him 🙄

@A2Jennifer Me not doing things exactly as he told me to was me being controlling.

Know the feeling only too well and still carry the scars to prove it.

@Triphid @A2Jennifer @SKH78 I'm sorry for all of us to have gone through a relationship with someone like that.

5

They make me puke.

5

It’s also the Republican talking point.

4

It's still perfectly legal to discriminate against the LBGT folks in places of business in 20 states here in this country. And the dipshit VP thinks that's totally fine.

These Christian fossil fuckers can blow their "religious freedoms" out of their ass.

4

Yep, it happens often ... bullies believe they are the real victims.

If they spent more time and focused on putting the beatitudes into practice, they would have less time crying about they're rights.

The Apostles' Creed jumps from, "Born of the virgin Mary," to, "He suffered under Pontius Pilate," It says nothing about humanity teachings.

@MrDMC it's easier to just believe than to actually practice anything, and twist things to relieve the guilt of harm they do to others.

4

Yup they can't control others like they used to

All religions think they have no rights compared to any other religion!!!

Hindu’s versus Islam!

Christians versus Islam!

BuddhIsm versus Islam!

It seems they all have problems with the Rights of women, gays, atheists, pagans, and Wicca!!!

Religions are nothing more than a cult being displayed as a moral ethical compass of the moronic idiots that follow them so blindly!,.

It so funny that all these religious leaders are male!!!

Yes, all religions are victim cults of male leaders for power and pure greed!!!

Well that’s a pretty definite appraisal of 30,000 years of human social custom. I am sure are ancestors are sorry they offend you.

Actually the two oldest religions ever discovered the worship of the female bear and the Cult of the divine mother (sometimes known as the cult of Isis, though it predates this) are both matriarchies founded and run by women presumably.

@LenHazell53
So, was the Goddess worship a female tribe who believed in nature!

They did not survive the males domination of leadership!

4

Sadly, it's human nature for the dominant culture/religion to try to suppress the marginalized ones. Happily, increased media exposure is exposing the general public to sympathetic, popular gay characters, which polls show is fast changing people's minds.

3

Fear is typically at the core. Fear that their beliefs may prove incorrect, fear that the 'others' may influence them, fear that their behavioral paradigm may not be sustainable when they are exposed. What an awful way to live.

3

It's the persecution paranoia that the brainwashed have.

3

Why ironic? Irony is one expectation and a different outcome. Paradoxical, yes, they do love to play the victim.

And it could easily and correctly be said that They are the victims of their own makings.

3

Ramone—-you are exactly right

2

The whole religion is based on victimhood. "Look how JC suffered! We wear the instrument of his torture around our necks!" Some serious psychopathy there.

2

They were just able to kick a citizen off a plane because of a Satanic Temple shirt, so they have no leg to stand on

2

I can't imagine caring about someone having the right to do something I don't want to do, and that extends back to when I tried to be religious.
