The name calling club

Have you been part of it yet?

What have you been called since you've been on the site.. and if you care to - share why (if you remember).

Here comes the Poll - If there are any I missed feel free to add - I ran out of selections!

Apologies for language - I don't refer to people this way - but I've certainly had all of this happen. Cat included to remove angst from post.

boy Felons in and out of prison talk this way about both men and women ....good reason to keep scum of the earth locked up until they are in wheelchairs unable to rape and murder again

All by men, and usually men I rejected and/or disagreed with. Also called fat and had various screeds directed at me on why I’m single /divorced.

Wow comments on appearances hadn't occurred to me but should have.. I've been referred to as 'Big Bird' (ridiculous I am a cat at heart) and had someone comment on my nose because it was hidden in a photo!
It baffles me how childish behavior like that is. It's also really insidious.

@RavenCT So many insults are body-based or misogynistic. A few are ableist, like variations of ‘tard’ All of them are ugly and in my humble opinion, spring from poor self esteem, and a self-hatred by the person using them. I do my best to use the motto made famous by the Tuskegee Airmen: Rise Above.

@CarolinaGirl60 i really dislike name calling it makes me want to yell "Use your words! No! Your Other Words!" .

They are NOT men the are brutal worthless scum boys of all ages unable to function as adults

None that I'm aware of or can remember!

Mostly "cunt" but also lots of "age-related" names (AS IF the alternative would be desirable, I guess). I worked in a shipyard for 13 years, held my own& more amongst 20,000 men, I have Not in any way retaliated as I could if I wanted to....have blocked a few "cunt-callers" though...because just so stupid!

I do think there can exist a culture of 'friendly' name calling - I am rather glad we seem to be trying to pull away from it though! It's not always easy to handle.

@RavenCT when you work around all men it is definitely part of the charm....being "one of the guys" in fact. I had a Very hard time when I got back into female culture!!! A Lot!

@AnneWimsey My University was 10-11 guys to every gal. I had no trouble working in the shipping room over the summer with mainly guys. (They didn't think twice about teaching me to drive forklift either).

And that was in the 80's. You learn precisely when and how to call someone on their BS (when it's important when it's not).

I think someday that might not be a needed life skill. But I always found it really fascinating. A lot of the time I was treated like someone's sister/brother would be. (For good or bad!).

Some of the things that went on in Office culture were a lot worse than anything I ever saw in a factory or shop!

I am called “woo” but I don’t mind because I really am woo.

Hey - Owning your truth is great!

Me too! I work at it!

I am sure I have been called a few choice names, which I no longer remember. I have posted more than one controversial post, and learned what a great sisterhood/brotherhood this site can have when there is controversy. I also got blocked by several people and did some of my own blocking. @RavenCT you always had my back. I grew up with mean older brothers, and my dad was no picnic. I no longer let other people define who I am or what I am worth. I don't let the opinions of people I don't know or respect influence my idea of my self worth. It was a hard lesson, and I am thankful I lived long enough to learn it.

I've always felt saying 'hey not cool!' can help stop this behavior. Glad that I've been around to do it.

That had to be a rough childhood (Hugs!).

A multitude of names not listed and was told by one woman I should be shot for saying hello to a woman in my town while walking around the park... You've got to love people that disagree with you and who have no manners 😛 "troll" is a favorite of those who have no defense for their positions

I've been called lots of things, but a notable one is "N-word lover" by my racist father.... (fun times, my youth). (He is deceased now)....

Ohub Level 7 Dec 16, 2019

It hurts more when it's someone in our real lives. Hugs!

Conservative trolls

bobwjr Level 10 Dec 16, 2019

That is where Libtard usually comes from. 😂

@RavenCT yup from fear of their own ignorance

2

Snowflake. When I first started the HSP group. Which now has 129 members, I might add.

2

I have been called a troll and a sealion, which would just be funny if it had not been accompanied by suggestions of physical violence.

skado Level 9 Dec 15, 2019

Yikes! Suggestion of physical violence are the height of uncool.

2

I've been called a dog. But that's ok.

3

Very cute cat!
It was several months ago. Was called Libtard, Bitch, and Stupid ... or those attributes were implied by other intense, derogatory language. Blocked those people right away.

Smart of you.

2

Stupid, but only once, & several others came to my defense.

That's always a good result when others step up and can say 'hey not cool'.
