It is a sister site. You can go into your settings and keep your info off of that site. It is the very last setting on the page.

It's my understanding that Humanist.com is an alias for Agnostic.com.

I wouldn't concern yourself over the 'sacrifice' of your level 7. I never felt like the need of a gold star even when I was in grade 1. I think it is a bit of a wank actually. But most people are single here so perhaps they have nothing better to do than post. Actually that sounds like me cos I'm not working atm and it's freaking hot outside.

It's clearly stated it's a dual website. I personally like the humanist approach and wish they had pushed that one harder in the first place. I hate it when people try to act like it's some sort of a scam we're being victimized by.

A tad paranoid, aincha? Humanist is a "sister site" to this one, clearly stated in several places. You can opt out of either if you orefer.
You can also remove the tinfoil from your head.

they are the same site, and you have a choice which one(s) to appear on... in settings. you do not have to delete anything and you've not been hacked or hijacked. you have wasted your high-level account though lol. anyway, this is normal. check the ABOUT on both sites to see more.

I went to My Account/Alerts. Near the bottom, I turned off "Show my profile on Humanist.com."

it’s pretty clearly said that this is happening, there’s a place to opt out in the settings. if you’re so worried about privacy, don’t put your legal name or pictures on the site.

You should've checked with admin first before you deleted. I found out very soon afterwards that the sites were mirror images of each other. I saw no reason to delete because I am a humanist first but also an Atheist and was content with the interaction from either audience.

On both humanist.com and agnostic.com, in the "About" section, at the bottom, there is a "Two Websites in One" section at the end where they clearly state that they are both sister sites sharing the same database. Nothing to worry about to my humble opinion.

It appears that this user quit, and since we can't tell when that happened, we don't know whether s/he ever figured out that the two sites are mirrored, that this is not exactly a secret, and that nobody is stealing his/her profile. Oh well.

It's been one of the relatively few transparent things about how this site is run, that by default everything is mirrored between humanist.com and agnostic.com. I have mixed feelings about it but don't see any particularly bad side effects. It's just alternate branding of the same content.

When humanist.com first went up it was an option to opt out of that cross-pollination. I wasn't aware that it is no longer offered to "new" members. I think it involved signing up on agnostic.com then going to humanist.com and opting out in your profile there, or something kind of clunky like that. You might go over to the Senate and ask, but I wouldn't throw away level 7 over something like that unless you got zero value from the site.

You have the option of choosing not to allow your profile or posts from Agnostic to be shown on Humanist. If you are using the mobile app you may follow these instructions (if you wish to change it). I'm not sure how it works on the website but it should be similar.

1. Go to the top left where the three bars are (the menu) and click on it.
2. Click on the settings option in the list.
3. Click on the settings tab on the page that comes up.
4. Scroll all the way to the bottom of the the page and you'll see the option.
   I have added screenshots to show you what to click on.

You can disable your profile from appearing on humanist.com in settings. Can't find it let me know, I'll hunt it up.

Hi - I may be misreading, but it appears to me that the original poster named at least two issues, not one.

1. Most respondents seem to be focusing (and some not very kindly) on the fact that the OP didn't know that the site was mirrored.

2. There does not seem to be much (if any) response to what seems to me the broader and more important issue raised, which is that one's more private information can (according to the OP) simply be discovered from conventional web searches. Is this second point true? If it is true (and I don't know that it is), does nobody here have any criticism to make of a site which is partly a dating site choosing to make information so widely and readily available? Or perhaps we can throw in that for some people coming out as an atheist or agnostic has potentially difficult consequences? Or that it makes this site less usable for people from some countries where atheism or agnosticism are not allowed? Or, at the very least, it makes it less advisable for a few folks to be honest about one's location?

That’s what I call an OTT knee jerk reaction! You obviously didn’t read all the details when you joined up here carefully enough...too bad you hadn’t asked a few questions prior to deleting everything and we could have set you straight that you just had to change the setting to stop sharing your posts with our sister site Humanist.com. I’m sure nothing bad is going to happen so just relax.
