A very painful on-line, structured discussion. Can you follow the logic ?

As someone from a culture where circumcision is a foreign concept, this discussion has always sounded ridiculous 😂 No doctor is going to convince a grown man without any relevant medical issues to lose his foreskin. All these cleanliness arguments sound crazy. Do animals get circumcised? Or do they shampoo and exfoliate themselves regularly down below?

What is really sick is that my grand son just went through this procedure. Why? Actually it was because my daughter thought that covered penises were ugly. My son had the procedure because my x wife wanted my son tonlook like dad. Really? Who the hell would know?

I have been trying to follow this site[ [kialo.com] ] for over a year because I see it as a means of having a full blown on-line balanced discussion without restrictions- something IMO the world needs. The restrictions turn out to be the complicated mechanism for getting pro and con points ratified and easily traceable. Can YOU sort out the quickest way round them as at the moment it is taking far too long and that is off -putting. I appreciate this site much m,ore at the moment.

I’m not sure if I can see the whole thing, but yes, what I can see is fine.
I would be reluctant to tell a person what to do with their own child, but am glad that medical opinion is changing as I have met men that felt they had lost out by being circumcised. I also hear that the procedure can be arranged as an adult, if the patient decides, so on the side of caution it can be done later, but can’t be undone!

There accounts of jews reversing the procedure in order to participate in the olympic games. Unfortinately there is no detailed account if it was actually done or how they did it.

I was an EKG tech through my 20's, sometimes called to do a tracing on infant boys in the 'circ room'. Have you seen the baby sized cookie-cutter restraint trays they are strapped into? I began to dread those calls, thinking it only reasonable that the pain, fear and stress of the procedure was the only cause of their little hearts flipping out.

When I had my own son I had researched the options and learned that we are a unique culture that performs this routinely - for profit. Additionally, studies pointed to uncircumcised men experiencing superior sexual health and pleasure, as well as their partners (which I can vouch for!). Cleanliness would only be an issue in someone with overall poor habits. Without hesitation, my son was left intact.

As it turned out, my son also developed phimosis at age 12, discovered from a constricted urinary tract that required noticeably frequent bathroom breaks at school. I was disappointed that he required a circumcision, but it was a relatively easy day surgery and recovery.

My daughter lives in New Zealand, where midwives routinely deliver babies and circumcision is typically never a consideration. I could not be more happy for my kiwi family and their healthy ways, never even a thought to cut my dear grandson!

Altering a child's body without a medical reason is not on. Let them decide for themselves later in life if they want it done.

I like my circumcised penis.

I once went to a lecture where the lecturer didn’t. But once it’s done it’s the best choice surely.

@girlwithsmiles how did you know the lecturer wasn't circumcised? This is intriguing.

@BitFlipper Oops meant to say, didn’t, sorry. The lecture was about suicide and self harm, some people I worked with had suicidal/ self harming behaviour. He covered it when doing background on culturally normal mutilation. He wished he’d had the choice.

Fine but was it the result of your choice?

@Mcflewster I really don't care. I didn't have a choice about being vaccinated or toilet-trained and I'm glad those choices were made for me. I would like to have a choice about who I share my penis with, and that's more important to me than a foreskin.

@BitFlipper Fine!

What is circumcision for? In areas of the world where there is not water enough to wash the male member as it should be, this practice has benefits. For most of us in this modern world today it has little or none. When it is done to women and young girls it is nothing but mutilation. A crime that should have severe punishments.

There was a time in America when male circumcision was pushed as a means of preventing boys from masturbation. Not only was god concerned with this but so were parents and a man named Kellogg. I do not believe, however, that he put foreskins in his cereal. Just a nasty rumor.

Never ever should do this to a child. Should be a crime

@Canndue I'm very thankful it was never done to me but I know people who have had it done at 40 years old because of a marriage. Ouch!

Male circumcision, female genital mutilation, and gender re-assignment need to be prohibited except when requested by and performed on informed, consenting adults.

I had a boyfriend who had to get circumcised at age 42, the opening was losing flexibility. No "day at the beach"! Nine stitches, and he had to carry a can of Freeze Spry at all times to stop any erections Immediately. Plus Owwwwww

“Had to get circumcised”?

@indirect76 yes, the opening in the foreskin that allowed a hard-on was getting smaller, in fact trying to close up, sort of. Very painful, and extremely hard to keep clean too as the foreskin could no longer be properly pulled back enough.

@AnneWimsey Interesting. I’ve never heard of such a thing. Thanks for filling me in.

@indirect76 I knew there was a word for it! Thanks! This was about 50 years ago, so I can't even say it was senility that made me forget it, lol!

@AnneWimsey I think you meant to thank @Leontion for the vocabulary lesson.

Anyhow, I was just speaking to a friend over the holiday about circumcisions. She told me she knew a man that had painful errection as a result of being circumcised. So I guess that is a risk regardless.

@indirect76 he was perfectly fine after he healed up, I can testify. They even hid the scar along the head....completely normal looking & acting. I think there was a concern over scar tissue forming, but it did not, or not enough to matter.
And yes, thank you Leotion!
