Watched "The 5th Element" again recently. No end to the fun.
Some of my favorite Gary Oldman scenes are in this movie.

A great romantic comedy.

Mine also! But I love all of it..especially Chris Tucker as Ruby Rhod, LOL!

It's one of my favorite movies.
Last time it was on Netflix, I watched it several times in a row, and when I was in the US in the 1980s, I had the video and we all used to watch it constantly, falling down laughing.

One of my favorites, too! I love the whole scene around the opera singer and cuts to the 5th Element fight in the apartment.. can watch it over and over!

That is such a good movie for the sci-fi crowd. It's kinda the movie equivalent of the Firefly series. It's weird and great, but if you don't get it you never will.

Firefly! (Sigh)

I am a leaf on the wind watch me soar

As usual, a Fox cancellation. Children work at Fox.
Too bad Nathan Fillion is such a dick.

I don't know how many times I've seen this movie, I'll watch it every time I see it on. lol

I liked it for the showcase of Jean "Moebius" Giraud's artwork. Scenes looked as if ripped from the pages of Heavy Metal. And Luc Besson has always been a director that I pay attention to.

However, if you are a Robert A. Heinlein fan, you'll see how much the Fifth Element universe copies a typical Heinlein universe, with the flying cabs, tiny automatic apartments, the protagonist having a cat and a bad past romance, his falling for a dangerous, red-haired woman who is more than she seems, funny one-liners, imaginative aliens, etc.

@birdingnut Pretty hand in glove there. A lot of Moebius' works were influenced by Heilein. And, yes I am a fan. Cut my teeth on Revolt in 2100, firmed with Starship Troopers and apexed at Stranger in a Strange Land.

That is one of the very few movies that I'm happy to watch more than twice (and there aren't that many that I'd watch twice).

Watched it again, too. Like a week ago.

Too bad that luc besson couldnt repeat his success. valerian was a beautiful movie but plot was stupid.

It was based upon a comic not popular in the US. But it is great to look at.

Yes moebius stuff from Metal Hurlant and Valerian. I have copies in the original French.

A lot of that stuff inspired Star Wars and blade runner and other things.

RomCom, really?

Sci-fi romcom but still ultimately a romcom

@LadyAlyxandrea I've never seen it that way. Absurdist SciFi, sure.
RomCom seems beneath it.
