Now I'm about to chuck it into the box for polishing rags.

Patch socks?

@Petter yikes-u be picky/no, I have heavy work socks that
are sweat friendly synthetic. (They last years) I am frugal-and repair my clothing ; ie overcoats,boots,jeans,ect. NOT SOCKS.

I remember my Mum darning socks - but I've never done it - I have to admit they seem too inexpensive to make the effort.

If you cut four more holes, you can use them for gloves........

I cut off the tops of white socks that get holey and use them for arm bandages. As my husband aged, he always had some abrasions on his arms and the clean white sock was wonderful for keeping it clean and protected. I now find my skin is more fragile and I need one occasionly as well.

@MissKathleen They're even better for guys with hairy arms.

@MissKathleen most socks stretch quite a bit
