I want to say that I am an agnostic, and I don;t need/want anyone trying to tell me what I "really" am, and will block such people if they make themselves a nuisance to me.

I will not say "There are no gods" because that cannot be proven. A being intelligent enough to create what we see as the universe would be so far above us if it wanted it's existence to be in doubt we could certainly neither prove or disprove it.

There may be a "clockmaker" who created the universe with elements keyed in to create life eventually, and the "finely turned universe" argument really has not been disproved set it in motion and watches it operate for reasons we can't imagine. Again, a being that could create the universe we see would have to be beyond our comprehension.

So I am an agnostic, and don't need people coming at me telling me "No you're actually..." STFU!

I've had experiences in my life I cannot, obviously, "prove" that lead me to believe there may be more to our existences than the physical. Is it wishful thinking? I can't prove it isn't.

There are things I'm much more certain of, tho.

While there may be a creator and a 'Purpose" to life beyond what we know or can know now, I am pretty certain that the judeao christian god is not the creator of the universe and the purpose of our existence is to either grovel at his feet for eternity or burn in agony for eternity.

Most mainstream religions are human social constructs meant to create ands impose order, to give the "right" people an advantage and to put the "wrong" people at a disadvantage.

Thus most religions elevate men, oppress women, justify crimes against the "infidels" and so on.

I'm glaring at you, christianity and islam. Both these religions are clearly human constructs and meant to create hierarchy and control.

Christianity is as best we can determine a creation of the roman empire meant to quell rising jewish rebellion after crucifying countless jewish dissidents failed to do anything but incite more rebellion.

Islam was clearly created by an arab merchant and pedophile as a cash cow after he saw how successful the catholic church was at raking in the profits...

Also ancient judaeism now is known to have made a big deal of the asteroid that we now know took out the cities of the plains, most famously soddom and gammorah.

That terrible thing happened and it had global impact as we know know after being tipped off by some ancient babylonian astronomical tablets, and naturally when huge amounts of flaming hot brimstone fall from the sky and destroy several major cities primitive people knowing zip about real astronomy, meteors, orbits, etc, will assume it was a deity, and assume he had a reason to do it. So the stories of how S&G were destroyed (BLAME THE GAYS!) and how people could keep the big deity from doing it to them.

|And of course today we still see christians and muslims blaming the gays for fires, earthquakes, diseases, etc.

Christianity and islam are just militant offshoots of judaeism that spread not by the force of their truth but by the force of their violence.

No, I will not say there is no creator and nothing beyond what we scientifically call life. I have reasons to feel there may be.

Hell, I think my current life may well be some sort of result of being a real prick in a past one. I can;t prove it, don;t try to tell people to send me monye and do what i say because of my belief, it';s just something i pretty deeply feel.

But christiasnity, islam, other major religions mostly concerned with telling people how to vote, live, etc, sorry, I'm pretty sure you're wrong.

The one thing I am sure of it that there is no god or gods. 🙂

I would word it that I am sure that I do not believe any exist, because I see no reason to believe that any do.

Religious programming typically begins in early childhood, both the overt and the subliminal programming, it takes time to undo a lot of that damaging programming. You may find yourself felling anger and feelings of betrayal from love ones who lead you down this garden path with the best of intentions.
I gave up imaginary friends for good when I was 13 years old, it still took a lot of undoing and unlearning but be patient with yourself and give it time. You are already way ahead of the curve compared to most people because you are questioning instead of blinding accepting like the Sheeple of the world.

You do not need anyone to tell you what to believe, do or say. You can work its all out for themselves through science and so can your adversaries. Enjoy the freedom. Agnosticism is an area to be proud of whilst you await your final destination in belief. OR you can stay here for life as happy as you want to be with FREEDOM.

"I'm pretty sure you're wrong." - That's all I care about. What you call yourself is irrelevant. What you support, or refuse to support; matters.

As an Atheist who was an Atheist prior to and still is AFTER studying and gain a ThD, let me pose these relevant questions to you.
IF, and that IS a very BIG IF btw, A creator Being/Entity, call it what you may, existed/exists then,

  1. Why has absolutely NO tangible, irrefutable, empirically tried, tested and proven EVIDENCE ever come to light,
  2. Why would such Creator create an entire Universe full of stars, planets, galaxies, etc, and,
    a) merely place life on ONE only planet in an insignificant Solar system in an arm of ONE Galaxy amongst hundreds, if not thousands,
    b) IF such a Creator is Eternal, etc, and creates its own greatest creation, i.e. its Supreme Opus, then why does it make it that its Supreme Creation, the planet Earth, has a relatively limit life-span, etc, etc.
    I await your responses/answers btw.

OK; I am god and therefore according to your sophistry I must be god because it can't be proven that I am not god.

@TheMiddleWay Actually, you can't prove a negative. Fluffy might be able to do all of those things, just not inclined to do them right now.

@TheMiddleWay Proving the absence is not proving a negative.

You can prove that I'm not the President because someone else is.
You can prove I'm not a member of the Moose Lodge if you have a copy of their membership rolls.

But you can't prove I am or am not an atheist, for example, because that's a matter of my internal beliefs.
And you can't prove that I'm not a magician, because no-one has proven (to the satisfaction of believers) that magic doesn't exist.

See how it works?

@TheMiddleWay Have fun with your semantics.

I'll simply mention that the Flying Spaghetti Monster invisibly watches over us all, and nobody can prove he doesn''t. You can't prove you're not Shiva, Destroyer of Worlds. I would only have your word for it, after all.

@TheMiddleWay OK, I and I'm sure that many others on this site are waiting to see your proofs. "I can prove you aren't a spell-caster because you can't do any of the things ascribed to spell casters." Please prove that I am not god. If you believe that I can't create a planet that is visible from Earth then I ascertain that I do not at this time wish to create a planet- that doesn't prove that I cannot create a planet.

@TheMiddleWay Wrong! "Likewise, I can prove you aren't god because you can't do any of the things ascribed to gods." Earlier you made the above claim and later you made this claim "I never made any claims on your godhood". Your first claim states that you can prove that I am not god- I'm still waiting for that to happen. And your second claim states that you never made any claims on my godhood, but you directly claimed that you could prove that I am not god and in so doing you acknowledged that I am god because if I wasn't god then you would have no need of proving that I am not god.

@TheMiddleWay "I claim I don't have 10 dollars in my pocket.
I turn out my pockets and there is no 10 dollars there.
I have proven the non-existence of 10 dollars in my pocket, a negative." Here all that you did was prove a negative, you did not disprove a negative and to prove that there is no god one needs to disprove a negative which at this time science considers to be impossible. There is a god is the negative, now disprove that negative. If you claim that you can disprove that negative, then demonstrate it otherwise you are proving that you really aren't cognizant of scientific processes.

@TheMiddleWay As you admit "If you were god, you wouldn't have to wait for that to happen", but as god I am waiting for you to do what you said you would do. "The fact that you have to wait proves you aren't god." Seriously? That is what you are providing as evidence that I am not god? As god I am in a position to act or wait, whichever I choose and I choose to wait for you to prove that I am not god. I don't have to wait, I choose to wait so that I can see you disprove a negative. And as god I know that you will fail.
