Who's your favorite atheist comedian? Cynical, curmudgeonly atheist comedian? For me, it's perhaps a tie-George Carlin and Bill Hicks.

All these are great, but lately I've been enjoying Trae Crowder's Liberal Redneck videos. Excited that he's coming to Honolulu in June - I might have to hop on a plane to see his show!

I used to enjoy Bill Maher, and the Hawaii Secular Society used to go see his shows on New Year's Eve, after having a spaghetti dinner for the Pastafarians in the group!

Nobody can touch George Carlin though... My sides would ache laughing when he was on TV.

Rick Gervais, Bill Maher, I like as well but George Carlin is the best off all times to me

I have to say that there is more than one but the first is the late Dave Allen followed by the late George Carlin. Elsewhere on this site I posted a story in which I mentioned that I literally ran into the late Dave Allen and we both ended up on our ass on the sidewalk.

George Carlin in additon to be a brilliant comedian also focused our attention on the corruption of language in a variety of forms from the political to the pseudo-scientific.

Absolute agreement on that one. Dave Allen was a master of timing and content. I don't know how I missed putting him on my list.

Ricky gervais. Hit you tube and put in the key words reads the bible.

Carlin was a very special man. ^5

Carlin, Jefferies, Minchin, Maher, Oswalt

Pretty much in that order. Sadly, Carlin isn't doing any new work.

Jim Jefferies.

David Cross didn't make the list?

I mean, I'd probably go with Hicks or Stanhope or Carlin as a favorite, but Cross has some great material in this vein.

And his name is "Cross"...!

Carlin and Hicks, for sure. Also, Jim Jefferies, Ricky Gervais, and Eddie Izzard. Izzard is probably my favorite among living comedians right now.

Grorge Carlin, Tim Minchin, Ricky Gervais

1

Tim Minchin first, George Carlin second.

George Carlin, he nailed it!

Stephen Fry and High Laurie. Other than that, Tim Minchin strike my music bone. Because of a weird rights issue, I had to get permission to perform one of Minchin's songs. He got back to me within 40 minutes with a yes and actually thanked me. Classy guy.

Carlin and Jim Jefferies. Jefferies is hilarious. Pretty vulgar but hilarious nonetheless.

I would say Carlin over Hicks simply because Carlin lived longer.

I like George Carlin, but my all tiem fvortie was Dave Allen.

Carlin by far. But that is not his only schtick he had such great social commentary on everything.

Got to put in a mention for Dave Allen, and who doesn't love Stephen Fry and Hugh Laurie.

He wasn't a comedian per se but I would say Frank Zappa.

0

George Carlin by far but I listen to anyone who is funny and still makes sense.

Tim Minchin!! 🙂

Bo Burnham. His songs “God’s Perspective” and “Rant” are amazing.
