When you make your bed, do you put the pillows over or under the comforter?

Hmm, it is quite a simple question, but I am not really sure about the answer. I think it depends on many factors. Just like someone said above, it depends on my mood or things like that. I know that my wife puts them over the comforter because she thinks it is more comfortable and looks better. Personally, I don't think I care if it is over or below the comforter. What do I care about is my mattress. I have some problems with my back, so I really need a good bed, so my back won't hurt. It took me a while to figure out which mattress I should buy. Thankfully, I found some great reviews on bedselection.co.uk. The mattress they recommend is really incredible.

My feeling is that a comforter is designed to meet the pillows or go a bit under them. A bedspread is designed to cover the pillows.

I've got a light quilted bedspread that I could use to cover my pillows, and I do sometimes after laundering my bedsheets and pillowcases, if I want to make my bedroom presentable, like if someone is coming over and might see it... But for the most part, I either leave my bedspread off or under the pillows.

I feel that head pillows can hold a lot of bacteria, so I wash my pillow cases often and usually have them out in the open air.

On top with the pillow shams on top of the pillows!!!

My pillows are propped against my headboard directly on top of my sheets. I pull my down comforter which I use the year round up to the base of my sheets. I also have a plain sheet over the top of the comforter to protect it from the dirt my dog brings to bed. If you look closely you can see exactly where he lays every night in my picture.

Two or three days a week I don't make my bed and since I have made my bed almost every day most of my life I feel quite proud of myself for not doing it.

Whoa, I love your headboard! How beautiful.

@Lauren Thank you, I love it too. My husband bought it for our 25th anniversary. The dealer said it was French victorian. When I don't have the cover sheet on my duvet,you can see it also has carved wood sideboards.

@Lorajay What excellent taste, and what a good gift-giver!

@Lauren We picked it out together he just wrote the check.

Best medical advice says that you should not make your bed, because that helps the bugs to breed and keeps them safe through the day, so that they are fit, numerous and well, ready to feed on you at nigh. Best thing is to spread thing out to air during the day.

So I don't make my bed, not because I follow medical advice, but because I am a single man living alone, so I can be a lazy ass.

I tried to convince my children that making the bed kept the dust out of it and therefore they would be healthier. I think they preferred your story.

I hear you bro.

If I find them underneath the comforter I immediately dismiss the upstairs maid and sharply reprimand my house manager for failing to enforce the rules of common decorum.

Do you whip yourself after youre done yelling at yourself?

@MarkiusMahamius I'm normal, who doesnt?

My comforter set came with shams and decorative pillows. All go on top of the coordinating comforter. I make the bed as soon as I get up to protect the full wave, water filled mattress from cat claws. Replacing the bag of water in a water bed is NO fun!

What is this "make your bed" of which you speak?

make my bed?

LOL. What a funny question.

I make my bed an unusual way. I stand the pillows upright and put the “pretty” ones (in the matching sham) in front. Then I bring up the sheets and quilt to the pillows and fold them over. I hate having to dig under my pillows to fold down my bed at night. 😄

And who is that little cutie?

@Lauren That’s my Oliver! 🥰🥰🥰

@Apunzelle He looks so cushy soft and cuddly! Give Oliver a hug from me, please. 🙂

That is exactly what I do as well.

Over. But then they're covered with coordinating pillows.

The little elderly dog enjoys laying on the pillow, so I put the bedcovering on top of it.

Make your bed, who does that? You have to leave it to breathe.

Under

UNDER!! It’s very important. A naked pillow reveals sloth, ignorance and lack of moral fiber. Also racism.

Except that comforters are too hot where I live. I’m still using a blanket though.

I like such bad breeding that I use my down comforter year round. It's great to lay on top of if it gets too hot.

@Lorajay I would LIE on top. 🙂

@WilliamFleming my face is red.

@Lorajay oh shucks, I couldn’t resist ribbing you I’m sorry.
