Since I presume catfishers don't bother us Feminist Atheists I could only guess what one is or does...so the female version would be a fake Atheist account seeking to scam a lonely man for plane ticket money to come marry him ?

@Apunzelle No, in my experience here people seem to think they can identify scammers by their profile or something they say and they call them out regularly, not that they usually have a clue.

@lerlo My experience and my method is to look at the profile of the suspected scammer. How is their english, if they claim to be from the US and grammar/spelling/word choice is bad, that tells me possible NNES (non native English speaker), likely not well educated, which would be suspicious coming from someone who claims to have any advanced education.We look at what they claim to believe, if they are xians and this is an agnostic/atheist site they may be lost. Where are they from? Los Angeles, DC is a good trick. Abie, NE is one of my clues. Seriously no one lives there, and no apartments. I had a scammer claim to live there in an apartment. It is a really small farming community about 45 minutes from Omaha, but also alphabetically the first city in Nebraska, lazy scammers. We look at the pictures, and reverse image search. If they pop from a porn site.... If they are willing to relocate world wide... signs of a scammer. I've had too many interactions with men who would engage in conversation and then they need money and I'm the only one they can rely on.... sob. I knew a woman who spent over $10,000 on a scammer. In fact, I've heard that story from men and women. This is a free site, of course we will get people who want to take advantage of our collective naivete. I also look at who is contacting me. A drop dead gorgeous man is likely to raise my suspicions. And that man from a long way away has not read my profile. As I said, we take a look and alert admin. We don't have the ability to kick anyone off.
