I just attended a Zoom presentation on Covid- by a well-known expert in the field of viruses, Dr. Ricki Lewis, who has written many medical papers and books on viruses. She said that the pharmaceutical companies are rushing vacines that normally take years of safe and effective testing. She is fearful Trump is pushing them to come up with a vacine in October resulting in him being re-elected and many dying from an unsafe vacine. She also said a new article in AARP Magazine by Dr. Birx, of the Pandemic Team has been dumbed down and Dr. Fauci is now being instructed to say we could have a vacine in months. WTF!!!!! Will we get a safe vacine without cutting safeguards?????

I am sure he will do anything to get re elected , unsafe vaccines included . I mean , he is the guy that suggested to inject or drink some Lysol right ?
But it takes a process for a vaccine and I don’t think he has the power .
Lewis is not a medical doctor right ? She is PHD on genetics , correct ? That’s what I got by googling .

New Zealand has no cases of covid 19 at all. They have beaten it in 102 days.

And that was through natural common sense measures not giving the virus the opportunity to spread. We have also stopped it on my small island of Kauai, by stopping travel for the most part, and instituting a 14 day mandatory quarantine for any new arrivals or returning residents. We were asked to stay home except for essential travel for supplies, and to social distance during those errands.
We took it seriously and now are ready to open back up our economy, but because we rely heavily on tourism, we are stuck with only a few countries we feel safe including in our travel bubble... NZ being one of them. Most of the mainland US states are still battling the virus and we don't yet feel comfortable allowing visitors without testing first.
Sure have to wonder if all communities would have taken a hard stance on disabling the spread of the virus, if we could have sent the virus into near extinction, buying time for a solid vaccine for those who want it. Too many states waited too long to implement harsh measures to combat the virus, and too many eased what restrictions they had too early. A half-assed try isn't good enough to lick it.
I’m curious what makes her say she is fearful Trump is pushing them to come up with a vacine. This may well be true, but I don’t tend to believe someone’s opinion on something wholesale without some other reasons, medical expert or not.

As Allamanda mentioned other countries are working on a vaccine. Technology that creates vaccines has been around for a long time. I am pretty sure I will take it after it's been in use a couple of months because we will know by then the possible adverse effects.

None of this surprises me. I've been hearing for the last 1-2 months that the COVID-19 vaccine development and testing procedures are being fast-tracked due to various reasons. It's understandable that it would be pushed to the forefront and administered to the public ASAP. But to quote Trump and his brown-nosed Republicans, "The cure cannot be worse than the problem." You would think they would have the same cautionary attitude toward speeding up the vaccine as they did with the duration of the quarantine. Hopefully, too many corners won't be cut to jeopardize the safety and potency of the vaccine.

I WILL NOT TAKE THIS VACCINE. PERIOD!!!! I do take lots of vitamin C and Zinc...plus a host of other good stuff.

I take that stuff, but only at the first symptoms. In 40 years of public service, once I started this, I never missed a day off for flu. 8 grams of vitamin C and Zink lozengers for sore throats. Seldom need more than a few days worth.
The orange idiot may be able to bully and shove around people but he'll NEVER get the virus to cooperate. It will continue to do what it does and expose him as a total dumbass. Will this result in bad medicine? It has resulted in bad medicine even with all the precautions. Just ask my abdomen about the whole mesh implant experience. So I'd say no matter what you should be very reluctant to just accept BUT there's a risk no matter what. Pick your poison.

It would be unlikely to have it fully approved in less than twelve months unless some company nailed it early on. Even then the process for approval isn’t quick, unless of course shortcuts are made. But with this administration I wouldn’t be surprised of shortcuts were implemented.
