A great lady by all accounts!

Have you confirmation reports?

@FrayedBear yes...we’ve had virtually wall to wall accounts of her greatness from all and sundry all day, especially the ex service organisations.

@Marionville Well don't be mean! Please share the better ones.

@FrayedBear during WW2 she asked to go to somewhere that no other entertainers had been to entertain the troops and they said nobody had been to the jungles of Burma and so she went there with only her accompanist and a couple of aides , and really roughed it in great heat and humidity, sleeping under canvas. Sometimes only entertaining small units of troops at a time, but It was greatly appreciated and in later years she was awarded The Burma Star.

@Marionville and extremely dangerous if caught by the Japanese who would probably have simply used her as a comfort girl for the troops to screw.
