Poor Franklin, such a disappointment!!

"No, we're not a Christian country, we've never been a Christian country. We're a secular country, by our constitution, in which Christians live and which many Christians have a voice, but we're not a Christian country." - Billy Graham (David Frost interview in 1997)

By saying that "we are not a christian country" does not mean that he didn't want it to be. From what I understand, his political actions spoke differently

He is correcting David Frost who assumed we are a Christian country.

Well, Billy is pushing grass, so his statements have been amended by his family and his organization.

It is true that the USA has never been a constitutionally Christian country, however the people of the USA have always been a majority Christian people, who have at heart pretended that being such makes America a Christian Society, a Christian land and by dint of the transitive property A Morally Christian country if not legally so.
A myth that has so deeply ingrained itself in the collective subconscious that most believe it to be true, or that it should be and one day will be.
A Christian Theocratic American ruling over and policing a Christian theocratic world is one of the promises of the second coming of Christ for the LDS

Screw the LDS!

Wow! Did his son miss Dad's message completely or what? Never was a fan of any preacher (or anyone for that matter), but this guy actually studied history and the early founders of the country!

The recent rant by Trump about Bidden trying to hurt God should alert every simpleton that Trumps Christianity is nothing but an emotional leaver he's using to control evangelicals.

"Should," being the operative word!

I think that part of the problem is that we're approaching this on a rational level.
I believe, but don't know that the base of the christian sects feel threatened. Not just by the fact that other non christian religions are out breeding them, but also by the fact that more and more people are not only questioning their dogma, but also their relevance to modern day life.
As anyone knows, threatened people and animals are dangerous, especially when backed into a corner.
The other problem that I have is that when people are backed into a corner, they tend to come out swinging, rather than talking.
I think that we're in for an interesting life, as the Chinese curse says.

I'm pretty sure that Franklin is just about a carbon copy of Jerry (Oops! Mah pants...), whose Liberty Univ. teaches just the opposite of Billy's point!

The Christians know their time has come and gone.
The upside of secularism is becoming more and more apparent.

How times have changed

Amazing. His father was a man of integrity. Franklin Graham has no excuse. Unlike Donald Trump he can't blame his father for the person he is. He's the bad seed

Many of the christians I have been around practice bigotry.

And non-religious folks too. I've seen the sister site of this one and it's as racist as most evangelicals.

@Theresa_N

Sister site? What's that?

It's been discussed elsewhere on this site, I forget it's name. But it's largely alt right. I got my fill of discussing it yesterday. Thank goodness it is a different site from this one.

Here's me thinking your referencing good old Ben and company on the topic. [pics.onsizzle.com]

The perfect mix of religion and fascism!!!

The obstructionist republican fascist who are owned by the wealthy and their corporations wholesale!!!

Too too bad Billy’s son is such tool of the wealthy and their corporations!!!

Franklin is afraid that our current trend is taking us away from his religion. I certainly hope that it is.

Franklin just likes money and yachts and privilege. He has no core values.

Franklin is hard core and Billy knew this when he handed over the reins. I heard this myself at a rally by Billy.
