Okay, so how's about we have a little harmless fun here.
How many of us can plead guilty to getting words, etc, from songs wrong, I'll start with one of mine,

  1. "She's a must to avoid...." from Herman's Hermits, I always sang it as being " She's a MESS to avoid."
  2. this always got me in to trouble when I was forced to attend Sunday School.
"Our Father who art in Heaven hallowed be thy name," to which I always sang " Howard be thy name."

We all do this, especially with so many songs filled with poor enunciation. I recall a time when my daughter (4 or 5 years old) kept singing "and your big butt, baby boy" and I had no idea what she was singing. She was into it though. I later learned it was a song performed by Beyonce (I think with Destiny's Child) and they were singing "can you keep up". I still want to sing "and your big butt, baby boy."

CCR, there's a bathroom on the right.

"Poetry in motion." I could always hear. "Oh a tree in motion." Which until I worked out the correct lyrics, I always thought sounded really stupid.

Too many to count. To this day, I learn the correct words to songs that I've listened to for decades. Most of the time, I hear the correct lyrics when I'm listening to a cover version of a song, and it's a different singer enunciating the words.

Within the past two weeks, I learned that I had been misunderstanding "Dance The Night Away" by Van Halen. I thought he was saying "ooh, baby, baby, won't-cha send your love my way", when it's actually "ooh, baby, baby, won't-cha turn your head my way".

Yep, many Van Halen lyrics. I have to admit that it was not their lyrics that held my attention. That's Van Halen not Van Hagar, for the record.

I thought the song, "My Sharona" was saying, "Rice A Rona"
In all fairness, my hearing isn't the best in one ear. LOL

Wrapped up like a douche
Another runner in the night.

My Dad's nick name was Bud . I thought the song we sang in Sunday School was , "Little ones to Him belong , We are weak , Bud he is strong ".

My buddy and I watch movies while we play Heroes and we repeatedly find things the other person misheard on movies we've watch a million times. Just yesterday he caught me say, "Aren't our mamas the same" with Derek in The Waterboy when he actually says, "Aren't all mamas the same". And in Idiocracy he heard, "maximum violence channel" instead of, "next on the violence channel". And we still disagree on what Pepper Books says in Dodgeball between, "that'll buy you one heck of a [blumpkin/pumpkin]".

I have to narrow that down! Lol

My daughter always got the words confused with the song, "Pressure Down" by John Farnham and sang " Let the patient drown" instead....LOL.

Glory, glory hallelujah,
Teacher hit me a ruler
I knocked her on the bean with a rotten manderine,
And her teeth came marching out!

My Great Uncle, a very, very irreligious man btw, taught me his personal blessing,
" My Father can beat Your Father at Dominos," instead of the usual,
" In the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Ghost," LOL.
