All that I can say for sure right now is that this is a hell of a year for a cynical, depressed bastard trying to be sober to be living in. Not a fan. At all.

Cuddle a creature. I prefer dogs but a nice guinea pig suffices.

Everything sucks because of the pandemic. It is made worse by the crazies broadcasting from their own homes trying to get control of your mind. This is why many are saying "we do not know what to believer any more." I had no problems until about 4 years ago. 🙂

I thought that it would be great for cynical people, after all isn’t it what they are “happy “ about, the more misery than more they are “ happy “, he, he.

Don't worry about it. Humanity will be extinct within a few centuries, and Earth will be swallowed by the Sun in about five billion years.

Enjoy it while you can.
Every time I've thought it couldn't get worse it did, my entire life.
These may be the good old days at the end of the before times.
We already know that many will not survive it and we've lost so many already.
It's such an odd time for policy makers to abandon science, if ever there was a situation that requires us to science the shit out of it climate change is definitely one, yet they don't believe it even with the entire west afire.

Yeah, just about everything this year sucks.
Would not recommend.
Hang in there.

Actually, I just had a thought. One way to help your recovery is to help others. Maybe this community needs a recovery support board. Maybe you could start one. And to be honest, I have not looked to see if one already exists. I do not think that you are the only agnostic on this forum that is going through this and support is such a key component to recovery.

Hold on to the little things that can make you feel better, if things go the right way it will all be different starting next year. If not then I'll be feeling like you...

I know someone that is going through the same thing. I hope that you have support. I know that is hard to find right now. My friend is doing online AA meetings and struggles with the gawd aspect of the program. But there is such a thing as "Smart" AA which is AA for atheists. And, not all rehap counselors push AA. Some rely more on "mindfulness" or Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Many therapists are also doing online services these days. There are also a million books on mindfulness and CBT. Best of luck and please stay sober, your health and well being depend on it.

i feel your pain, but i will have my revenge on the asshole who caused this year to go to the shitter, the orange turd will be expectorated from the WH this November, go to jail with all his inept family and spineless enablers, where a fellow inmate named Bubba will make the turd and many others of his corrupt entourage, all his bitches, that will be worth waiting for!

@Mofo but he won't go even if he loses, he intends to cause chaos, fir a country he supposedly loves, but turning upside down

He's devious, malicious and vindictive.

This has been simply crazy. I'm one of the lucky ones, I started working from home and didn't lose my job. This pandemic isn't making things easier for anyone. We all have to hang on.

@K9Kohle789, I'm sorry to hear about your dog. I have isolated myself a lot but as a choice and I have lost trust in people in general. I do cope quite well with loneliness. Got too used to it. However, if I was forced to be isolated, like I was a bit because of work a few years ago, I would find difficult to deal with it as well. It seems you need to vent a bit, which sometimes is healthy and helps you to deal with everything in your life. If you need to do so, don't hesitate to reach out to someone. From my side, my door is always open. If you need to talk, you can even send me a message.

@K9Kohle789, great stuff. Feel free to reach out if you need.

@Paddypereira Lucky you. Most of us a hanging on a thread about to snap.

@TimeOutForMe, true. I count my blessings. Never easy though. Sometimes I'm hanging on a thread as well. All we can do is never give up. Always hoping for the best.

Were doing OK, we have not got ourselves involved in a nuclear war yet . . . . . . . . yet.

not for lack of trying

Only a matter of time.

@K9Kohle789 I majored in History with a concentration on WWII/Holocaust. It was the German policy that if they had the weapons, they must be used. You don't want to go to all the trouble of developing the weapons and stockpiling them and then not use them. Where nuclear weapons are concerned, they had already been used, everyone has seen the results, and it is less likely now that they will be used than it was in 1945. But frankly, I find it hard to believe that we have gone this long without some one using them again.

@MyTVC15 I hope not.
