Who do you support, the teachers of Oklahoma or the Republicans and Betsy DeVos, who claim the teachers, do not have the interest of the students first? The teachers are looking for too, much?

The teachers got their raise. If they were only it for themselves, they'd just shut up and go back to work.

We know DeVos is opposed to education that doesn't include religious indoctrination, and the entire administration is a mass of liars, traitors, and crooks.

Wanna make America "great" again? Teachers should have a $100,000 starting salary and no tenure.

Teachers. No doubt.

The teachers, most definitely!

Those teachers need to get paid ... all across the nation. This is the reason we are in the debacle we are in, because we don’t value our educators.

To be placed in a postion to train our children to excel and pay them minimum type wages is criminal. I cannot understand why they took so long to stand up for themselves.

As a retired educator, I support the striking teachers in all states in which this action is occurring. For far too damned long, morally and patriotically bankrupt Republican legislatures in far too damned many states have gutted and decimated public education -- as most of the other essential public services -- except prisons. The fact is that they want a relatively uneducated public that they can manipulate.

I hope so much that the activism of the "me too" movement, the youth anti-gun movement, the striking teachers can merge with the revulsion against Trump to drive Trump and the Republicans out of power across the entire country. We, the American people, NEED that to happen!

It occurred to me, that some 'undercurrent,' is gradually trying to snuff out public education...so that it will be privitized! That way, some people will be poorly educated, while others will have a greater advantage! Just an idea gleaned from the actions of people who are running this country, now! Sure hope that I am way over in the 'weeds'...on this one!

@Freedompath Your fear is exactly how DeVos and people like her think. They want to see a privileged few completely dominate our society.

A better question would be: Did you really expect anyone to NOT support the teachers?

Yes...all Republicans seem to be that short-sighted!

Oh you’d surprised how many people still think teachers have it easy and take summers off. Or how many rural farmers won’t pass referendums because their taxes will go up.

Go teachers. Completely underappreciated.

The Teachers of course..and fuck DeVos and her Rethuglican handlers..

When is the last time a Republican actually cared about a child... once it’s born, they just want it out of their way. Teachers should be lucky they live in Murica where they get the privilege to teach for little or no money—and guns.

3

TEACHERS!

3

They are not looking only for salary increases. They want funding for the schools and infrastructure of schools. Everything in the OK school system is sub standard to downright stone age. Time to clean up the mess, and I stand with the teachers of OK.

3

As a retired teacher who lives within 50 miles of Secre-idiot of education Betsy DeVos, well, definitely the teachers.

3

No. Betsy Devos is a joke to educational professionals. Teachers working 3 jobs to pay bills-something is wrong with these Republicans in Congress-vote em out in November.

She is surely a disgrace...and I hope that when she no longer sits on her perch...her name will be 'MUD!' It is close, now!

Teachers teachers teachers!!! They have such a thankless job. Can you imagine having to purchase your own office supplies and also help purchase them for struggling coworkers (students)? Putting in so many extra hours at home but still having to take a 2nd job to make ends meet? AND not getting raises?

If you saw BD's intervies on 60 Minutes, you know what an incompetent twit she is.

I have and she is a glaring example of somebody with her own IGNORANT agenda! If she had even a little sense...she would have resigned after she saw how little respect she garners!

2

The teachers, of course!
The republicans have been decimating the educational system for decades.
DeVos is nothing more than a figurehead, and a poor one at that.
She PAID for her job. She's not remotely qualified to be in that position.
Anything she says or does is not in the best interests of America's school children.

Teachers are paid peanuts to raise kids

Looking like unions are finally stepping up? Did I see where Teamsters are refusing to cross the teacher's picket lines?

I lived in Oklahoma for several years. I liked the people there but that is one burned-out state. One fellow boasted that he just got a new job, first job he ever had with benefits, I asked "what benefits?" He answered "Workmans Comp. I get hurt on the job, they pay the hospital bills."
Really sad.

Teachers of course.
