Although I'm not a Christian a lot of people I know are and the like to play gospel music. Although I don't listen to it all the time there are a few gospel records that I dig and I listen to them while I play Xbox. Anyone else like to listen gospel?

Keep in mind that I like all GOOD music, from Opera ( Verdi ) to a drunk guy playing the spoons on his thigh around a bon fire. I went to a Mary Chapin Carpenter show in a fabulous venue. The band that opened for her were Robin and Linda Williams and Their Fine Band. Live in Holland. They walked the Bluegrass/ Country line. They sang a song a capella, titled " My Rock" . They brought the entire house to their feet. If you can find it prepare to be amazed. They got their start on the Tent Revival Circuit. Cut throat tight harmony. I'm still not a Jesus fan, but damn that was good.

Aside from the lyrics some have really good beats, tempos.

I have always listened to Mahalia Jackson and now the Blind Boys of Alabama and the Staple Singers. Gospel music is not very far away from the Blues, and that's where I started and will likely end.

I listen too alot of old blues. Skip James is one of my favorites. He played gospel music back in the ,ithink 30's , which was awesome.music is music. Alot of it is fictional stories. I view religious music the same. If it sounds good. It sounds good.

Music is a very passionate art form. People are passionate about their religious views. So, it stands to reason that there should be some very fine works in the field of gospel music. While you won't catch me singing them, there are a lot of really great pieces of gospel music. I'm a huge fan of classical music and, the vast majority of it is religious in nature.

Way back in time, the gospel music had soul. The modern stuff doesn't -- it is simply music theory 101 -- how to make chords work together. I liken modern Christian music to the conversation the devil (Peter Cook) has with Stanley (Dudley Moore) in the origianl Bedazzled (1967) -- (Paraphrasing) -- "I'll sit up here and you dance around me", Stanley does and says: "I'm tired, can we switch places?" The devil says: "that's what I said and I got kicked out."

Hells yeah, man! I like a lot of music in which the message is something I don't agree with or support. Like death metal, for example. Love it, but hate violence, death, murder, dismemberment, all of it! Likewise, I despise Christianity but adore the sublime voice and soulful accompaniment music of Sister Rosetta Tharpe. Or Kate Jackson with the Campbell Brothers, singing "Jesus told me.....everything is gonna be alright! Be Alright! Yes, he told me!"

Music is music. You can enjoy & appreciate the sound without digesting the lyrics. The connection for me is the same as with religious art - some of it is astoundingly fabulous. And most of the song writers or artists were just trying to make a living, and that was the available market. Lots of covert non-believers amongst them I don't doubt.

Not into gospel but learned watching the voice that the most awesome voices grew up singing in their church choirs.

I enjoy gospel and bluegrass, a lot of which is faith oriented. I also enjoy classical religious music, and have sung a great deal of it as a part of various choirs. I don't see an issue with it.

While l don't get into the message some of the music and vocals are fun and quite good.

im not so much in2 gospel, but i have found some i like, i enjoyed the harmony in the songs in the sister act movies. i do however enjoy quite a few religious typed songs from other cultures. i particularly like the native american drum music, some of the various monks have a nice sound, and celtic stuff tends 2 be very nice 2

Music, to me, is the greatest form of artistic expression. Sam Cooke is one of my all-time favorite singers and I feel he is the epitome of what an artist should be. I collect vinyl and I get everything I can by him. I have some of his old Soul Stirrers records and they're amazing. The harmonizing, the passion, the vocal brilliance..It's so good! And although I don't believe in his god, I feel how much he does and he brings it across in melody. I'm not going to just put on some gospel because I adore music, mind you. But Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin...I can listen to musical giants sing about whatever they want. I also listen to Wu-Tang Clan but I don't have to have sold drugs or committed crimes and violence to enjoy the way they tell their stories. Music is oxygen to me. Music is human expression and humans can do pretty great things no matter their beliefs. Sorry if my answer sounds pretentious...I just really enjoy music! Haha!

No, thank you.
I find it annoying AF. Just like christianity, and every other religion.
