Where do agnostics go when they die?
JustChris has it almost right. Agnostics don’t know where they go when they die. They just don’t know anything except that they don’t know. However, I know the right answer: like everyone else, they don’t go anywhere when they die. Life is like the flame of a candle. It’s either there or nowhere.
Same as everyone else. We don't 'go' anywhere. The components just stop working. When your car breaks down, nothing has gone away. Something has just gone wrong in the system to the extent that the whole system stops working. We can fix it and get it working again. Humans are much more complex than a car but when we understand it to that level we should be able to fix it indefinitely.
Back to the earth. If a body is not cremated, the body becomes food for microbes as it rots. All that goo then seeps out of casket and into the soil - which becomes food for plants, earthworms and other creepy crawlies. Eventually, those plants, earthworms and other creepy crawlies become food for bigger animals or become fertiliser for bigger plants. Those bigger plants and animals eventually become food for humans. Humans uses those foods to make more babies.
Neil deGrasse Tyson says it better.
I actually plan to become a tree ala the movie "The Fountain." My daughter has promised to fulfill this duty. I hope to become a magnolia tree.
As an Atheist I believe I’m going where everyone regardless of belief goes. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust, food for the worms. I will be cremated and reduced to about 5 pounds of ash in a plastic box. Seen it many times from the crematorium. I hope someone uses it to plant a tree or something. Not at all saddened by this fact. You get one shot in this life. What really matters is did you leave the world a better place while you were here?
I'd like to see a situation where everyone goes down a hallway after they die to meet the grim reaper sitting at a desk. He proceeds to check your name on his list and then directs you to your appropriate afterlife. "Okay Jim, it says here you're a christian but you cheated on your wife. The door to hell is the third one on your right. "Skip you believed in reincarnation so your next life in through that door over there. "Achmed you're a muslim that died in a suicide bombing. Unfortunately the qu'ran is a little foggy on this one but since murder is against the ten commandments you'll have to follow Jim through that door over there." "Dave, Hmm... Says here you were an atheist. No worries, the doorway to oblivion is down the hall, sixth door on your left." "Bill, Umm... it says here you worshipped the norse gods? Yes? okay well that door hasn't been used in a while. It's that dusty one down there next to tarterous just this side of valhalla. No you can't go to valhalla, you didn't die in battle. No Bill, having a heart attack while playing call of duty isn't dieing in battle. Good try though."
Like everyone else, they become pure energy again and most reincarnate, if they wish.
This is according to research done with 2-6 year old children worldwide who remembered past lives and the details were verified. Many remembered being "ghosts" between incarnations, and choosing their next parents.
Some remembered being animals or even trees. Details of memories from all these alleged past lives were verified.
What exactly is "pure energy"? I'm familiar with "energy" but I'd love to here what this pure stuff I say lol about. Is it a Supernatural form of Energy?
How does this process of Reincarnation work exactly? and I what is the mechanism by which it happens or not, depending if the person wants it or not. I'm presuming that this is another Supernatural process, but I'm fascinated to know if there are any attributes attached to the proces. For instance, do I die first, and then use my dead brain to decide if I want to be reincarnated? or do I make that decision just before I die? Am I being a little too specific in my questioning. Is this one of those instances when one just needs to have Faith that it will all sort itself out in the end?
@GilesD I don't know the details. These were a number of studies done by researchers who only interviewed children 2-6 yrs old worldwide who remembered past lives of people they'd never met, sometimes people of different cultures and languages. Some of the kids retained the past life language, habits, food preferences, prejudices, etc., despite the shock and disapproval of their current families. Researchers always confirmed the details from the memories.
Hard to say. I don't personally believe our being we've created dies. Having said that what truly happens is a puzzle to me. I just know it has less to do with certain books we don't like on this site.
There is a lot of evidence of the state we cal "death" and "dead". What evidence do you have to substantiate your belief that human beings don't die? If you have no evidence, would it be fair to say that this is your Faith based belief in the Supernatural?
I'm a paranormal investigator and I've personally seen and documented to my own satisfaction to classify it and proof not faith dear sir.
But to be clear at no point was I attempting to ask anyone else to believe. It's my belief.
I'm agnostic too. I believe it's possible that our essence outlasts us. I have no proof and am not trying to convince anyone of anything. My feeling, however, is that our energy rejoins the greater whole and we cease to exist as individuals. If true, that's not really a whole lot different than just ceasing at the moment of death. Except that I also envision it as being a pleasant experience. Feel free to mock. I don't give a shit.
"Good girls go to heaven. Bad girls go everywhere".
Ooohhh, you sassy little vixen.
I'm going where you do.
I believe we break down to our basic elements. Though I do often consider reincarnation.
