I really like this site but I'm a bit confused about how it works.
So I see that there are levels and awarded for participation. I don't know what the levels do though. When I try to see the perks for the levels it takes me to this weird page- [agnostic.com]
What are the advantages to having a high level?
I get sent to that same page when I attempt to see posts in certain categories, like politics. Is that just off limits to newbies?
Any advice for a newcomer would be much appreciated.

When you get to level 7 or 8 or something, you get to be a senator. Yeah, it's a big deal.

What do you do as a senator, make sure no good laws ever get passed
Level 7 is the senate
We mostly just complain about stuff. Get into arguments about mostly meaningless details.
The only interesting thing about the senate is that it's the one place where you can still interact with the people who block you.
Oh, so it the place where you can still argue with people who blocked you. Sounds fun
The most useful perk I've seen is the ability to edit your post after you save it. I have good grammar and spelling, but without that perk nobody would know it.

Yeah! That is essential. I have got to be able to go back and edit or I'll look like a total idiot.
Yeah, Levels are more about Participation. It can also be of help with Spamming and Bots...

Oh, I didn't even think about that. So like, the site is not fully open to people until they participate a lot to be sure that bots and spammers can't just get on here and cause trouble?

@Zoltans_Queen Once you reach level 5 uou can approve the comments of low ranking members. It's another anti-troll measure.

Each level opens up a little more of the site. Not sure the perks are worth chasing, they don’t show you what the perk is for the level until you achieve it. And if no more t-shirts......well, it is a free site.
But, the more you participate, the more you earn. Click on your icon right side, there will be small box with your level showing. Click on that box and it shows where you are and how points are earned.

It sounds like I should just not worry about the and levels and just enjoy the site. Works for me.

The points really don't matter.
Once you've been here a bit, you'll see that.
It's just about participation.
They used to give a t-shirt upon reaching Level 8, but they don't do that anymore.

Gotcha.
Will it eventually give me access to everything as I move up in the ranks? Or maybe this is some kind of glitch that is keeping me out of certain places?
