Recalling the Death of a Child

All that winter
we hardly spoke at all

It was as if a great Nor Easter
had blown in
and stolen all the sound
from our lives

until all that remained
was that one dark pine

rustling

against
the
tired
house

To all those that lost a child, I am very sorry. THAT IS MY ONLY FEAR... I had lived my life thinking a parent should never have to bury the children.

thank you

To lose a child would have to be the most traumatic thing that could happen to any parent.I personaly have not had to experience the loss of a child and the only thing that I could suggest is that if you have other children surroung yourself with them and talk and chat with them as to how they are feeling and I wish you peace and future happiness,

thank you

Sorry, but you're going to miss him and suffer pain..for a very long time.

I mitigated pain from the loss of my mother by continuing to talk with her in my mind, as I had been doing anyway. There was no phone between our house floors so my mom routinely used esp to call me when she needed help.
I also used esp to communicate with my Haiti missionary kid friends in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, since we didn't have phones there either.

Thank you for your words

I have lost my sister and my dad and more upsetting for me anyway, my dogs, one of which so upset me I nearly went to the doctors because I couldn't stop breaking down though did eventually. I can't answer your question as it hasn't happened to me but really you let the pain out with tears and though you will never or should never forget it will get easier to live with. I always wonder if they would want me so upset too and that's generally no. you can't change what has happened and he isn't hurting now and it's not going to be an easy first few weeks, months etc but you must and probably will learn to live with it, my friend.

Thank you for your words

your welcome, they're not great words but the best I can come up with.
