Not quite sure how to take this 'new' development but open to suggestions, etc, any way.
Evangeloon, presumably to put MY Will-power to the test, invited me to his house on Saturday afternoon to meet his latest female friend.
Not one to duck out on a challenge and sensing he was testing my resolve and determination NOT to smoke, I went.
His female friend, is a very nice and friendly person, good conversationalist, quite knowledgeable, according to Evangeloon, she is of Spanish origin though is a Nationalized Australian.
Eventually, the conversation turned to my quitting smoking and my stating that 'I Did it my Way, Jesus/Gawd and completely prayer-less as well.
Casting his doubts around like spraying water onto a lawn, Evangeloon expounded that "WITHOUT Jesus, God and Prayer all things are doomed to fail."
He then brought his pack of cigarettes, lit one up and then turned to me and offered me one, repeatedly saying over and over, " Go on, you KNOW you want one, You know you need one, you know without Jesus and God you are too weak to resist, take it, light it, smoke it."
5 times, consecutively did he try this tempting, every time he fell flat on his face, the 6th. attempt, and before I had a chance to even comment, his lady friend responded with her pearls of wisdom, " Only the weak, the Feeble and the very Insecure set out to bring those stronger than themselves DOWN to their level JUST to make themselves feel much better than they really are, no you have seen for yourself that HIS Will is stronger than yours, Gods or that of Jesus put together, you and they have lost, he has won, face up to it, hang your head and make your sincerest of apologies OR I walk out and NEVER return."
Now, HE asks ME to show and teach HIM to,
A) Stop Smoking,
B) Become a better person,
C) Learn not to be an arse-hole, a judgmental dick-wad, and, learn to RESPECT others INCLUDING women.
What the blazes do I do NOW, where do I go from here, suggestions PLEASE, never been in situation like this before.

Ask his lady friend out.

Edit to add, Then tell him it was gawd's will for him to bring you two together.

Well, alrighty then. Too bad no one taped the episode, having him watch his behavior might help.
As I was reading your tale I was wondering how the "new" girlfriend was taking it all in. She responded well, though for myself I would have not made any offer of returning in exchange for him behaving better.
Tell him all he needs to do is start believing in himself. The woman JUST explained how he can be a better person and pretty much covered everything in C.

His lady friend sounds intelligent, he as usual is a complete Dickhead.
Tempting you indeed, does he think he's Satan now? If you were a recovering alcoholic, would he act the same?
Surely you can avoid going over there unless to give CPR?!

It might pay to sow more seeds of doubt about his own inerrancy. Said female friend has already started the process.

"Did you wonder how I managed to quit smoking without God/Jesus?"

Is this what "General and Hellos" has become?

Lesson one. Nobody is responsible for anyone else.

Lesson two. If he only wants to quit smoking out of embarrassment, and to look better in the eyes of other people (or his lady friend), he is unlikely to succeed. A person can only change if they really want to change for himself.

I am still laughing my ass off that hi9s lady friend turned on him.

You are the one who said you are not one to duck out of a challenge, and boy did you step in the flaming bag of dog poo with this one. But if you are feeling childish, you can give him a set of funny rituals to try. Like staring in the mirror and repeating the oath to the Royal Order of Siam to help strengthen resolve. See if he catches on.

Step one stop believing in a sky fairy.
Tell him to get back to you once he has mastered that one.

Hmmm... I'm going to step out for a smoke.

Sounds like you two are on your way to being best mates! Pound enough beers and keep the gal handy, you may have just have stole one from Jesus!

3

Give it ten minutes.....he will revert to his true nature and you will have been spared what was sure to be a very unpleasant ordeal.

3

In my world it is the Will and not will power.

3

Move house.

3

Just remember, that you can lead a theist to reason, but you can't make him/her think. Good luck! Maybe you can teach him that life without god can succeed.

3

I wouldn't associate with anyone that unpleasant in any way.

3

There was brilliant conversation in there somewhere?

3

I got nothin'.
Good luck with ALL of THAT.
😘

I had the same thought and Jim Carry's "alrighty then' popped into my head.

@silverotter11
To steal a line from a movie, 'It don't make a fuck to Jesus.'

@Holysocks What movie is that line from?

The ongoing story of Evangeloon.

Definitely a challenge at best, however, as the old saying goes, a leopard can't change its spots.
You can tell him, but you can't change him, he has to do that, he needs to be constantly aware of everything he does and say, it's on him, you can't teach him shit, only guide him, and that depends on if he follows your lead or become a total ass about the changes demanded on him.
Personally, I would just leave him be.

Wow, just wow.

Lol, I've been there. I failed horribly though. I made the assumption that they wanted to learn from something I believed. Really they were looking for the first chance to find fault and be done. I figure if you hold strong and keep it simple with a huge dose of scepticism you might do better than I did. But I've learned not to look to me for wisdom.
