Hi friends. My mom passed away yesterday. I was by her side when she went, with my brother and 2 of his daughters. I've lost my best friend but am okay because she is no longer battling dementia. She was a incredible woman and I am proud to have been her daughter.

So sorry for your loss. Nothing is quite like losing your mama. May the time come quickly that thoughts of her bring more laughter than tears.

Thank you, yes I am trying to focus on the good years and not the last ones of her life.

Sorry for your loss, l lost my father who had Alzheimer's on the 18 of December last year and my mother has dementia. I took care of them for a year before we placed them in a home. Hardest decision I've ever made. Hang in there it gets easier but you'll get these memories of them when you hear phrase or see something they liked. Beautiful memories.

Yes, it was so hard watching her decline. Thank you for your kind words.

I don’t know how you did it ... not one but both parents you earned your stripes

How lucky you both were to be together when she left this world. The pain will pass eventually and your loving memories will stay with you forever.

Yes, I was happy I was by her side. She was so special to so many people. Thank you.

It's sad to know that your beloved mother is no longer with you. I know the pain you feel, since I lost mine many years ago, (she was only 40..) but you know what? Count on me, if you need me...! Quetiendote

Thank you so much!

I'm very sorry about your mom. When mine passed several years ago, one thing I was told that has stuck with me and proven itself to be true is, "you'll never get over it, but you will get through it." I think you have a great support group here, don't be afraid to use it if you need it.

I love that line! Thank you for sharing it, its very profound.

Thank you. My mom was the best woman I have ever known. We had many kids live with us cuz their home life sucked.

Farewell to your mom. She sounds like a wonderful person, who raised a wonderful daughter. She left her legacy in you. I'm sure she was incredibly proud of you. I'm sorry she had to live with dementia. It is a hard disease to battle.

Awww, thank you. Its a horrible disease and no one should have to "live" like that.

Wow, what a loss! Moms can be such a huge part of our entire lives. I am sorry that you had to walk the dementia path with her and that she is now gone. I wish you strength as you learn a new way, moving forward.
