How do you come to believe that every other atheist smokes pot ?

I don't. Occasional beer or wine, and on rare occasion have a whisky or brandy.

I don't smoke pot. I don't do drugs of any kind and I don't even drink alcohol. So no you're not alone.

2

Nope.
i've never used.
not once.
not ever.
never even considered it.
not anything else, either.

Sounds fun.

whether it sounds fun is irrelevant.
it's honest.
drugs have never been a consideration

somehow
in the randomness of life
being born into a world of drugs
I never once used

raising my son as healthfully as i knew to do
yet
still
he died from the disease of addiction

why anything is the way it is
why i'm spared but he wasn't
emotional proof there are no gods

2

Nooo. I do but tons don't here. There is every veiwpoint pretty much here ???

2

Probably not.

3

Nope.

3

Me neither! (I used to, though 🙂 )

Nope 🙂

2

No. I have tried it. Twice. I didn't care for the way it made my lungs feel. I would be tickled to see it legalized, for those who enjoy the benefits of it, though.

2

No, but I have asthma. It is legal here (WA) and I've been to a few weed stores. I sometimes take CBD for pain and inflamation. I very occasionally take CBD+THC for fun.

I'm shocked at the number of people who say that they have never tried it. I thought everyone at least tried it in high school or college.

I think I might at least try it once before I die, but I've been thinking that for about 20 years so probably not.

2

Nope. I did once when I was a teen and that was enough. (agnostic not atheist)

4

Me neither. Did my drug experimenting years ago and the only one I would be interested in using again would be shrooms. Plus I get drug tested at work.

I don’t smoke it, either. I had tried it a very long time ago and hated the feeling it gave me. It always baffles me that, when people hear this, they tend to try and convince me that it was just a fluke and I should keep trying different kinds. I mean, why make continued efforts to gain another vice? I’ve got enough of those already.

I've gotten that, too. I've even been told that it wasn't pot. lol

“It must have been laced with something.” “You just haven’t tried the right one.” “Not all of them will effect you like that.” Ugh!

If you think pot is a vice, you’ve already derailed...

One thing about “pot” is that you can grow it yourself or only get it from growers you do trust.
This is why it’s important to realize that cannabis is not a drug...

They definitely do sometime lace commercial weed!

Often it’s doused in soda-pop to make it stick together in bricks...

I tried something laced many years ago. I liked it. Never touched it again. If I liked it that much I would have liked it more the next time. Just like sex.

If someone's handing round a joint, I might have a quick drag or two on it. Can't remember when I last did that, though. It must have been at least three years ago.

The last time I actually bought stuff was Amsterdam about a decade ago. Me and my ex got pretty wasted on White Widow. We ended up getting back to the hotel, going to bed, and waking up about 4 hours later, the level of 'stoned' we'd been hoping to achieve. Proper paranoid episode getting back to the room too, since the hotel had a strict 'no drugs' policy. This also meant we'd left 3 and a bit of the four joints that we've bought in the coffee shop. Someone must have been made up with that.

Now that they're clamping down on drug driving, I'm really not sure what I can get away with without risking losing my licence. It's easy with alcohol: I buy the one shot testers (that you need to drive in France) and do one of those the following morning if I'm in any doubt. I'm not aware of a similar self testing facility for cannabis, and I believe the stuff can stay in your system for up to a week.

Pot and acid almost made me some kind of non-atheist. The only way I could pull my way out of it was to learn science, math, and logic. Once I gained confidence in those things, I could look at the mind-altering experiences I'd had in the 60 and 70's as drug-induced visions I had experienced and not revelations from a higher plane.

I don't smoke period

2

I tried it once, but I didn't inhale it.....lol

3

Best part of drugs is no one has to use them - well, recreationally anyway.
Anyone telling you different probably wants you for a customer.

1

This question implies things that I don't much enjoy.

1

No, I seem to just get paranoid whenever I do. I like the idea of smoking weed, I just can’t

7

I don't smoke it. I try to take care of my lungs....I only have 2

Eat it... Vape it!

You’ll need the cancer-killing power of cannabinoids as your ENDO-cannibinoid system has just not evolved yet up to the carcinogen challenges modern tech-society has been throwing at it...

@Ungod Edibles are good. I indulge about once a month or so

@twill - Yeah... Not to just dispute, but I have sampled edible after edible and haven’t gotten even a mild a buzz once!

My only point is that canniboids are actually health promoting, disease preventing essential chemicals, that the body produces to protect it from various disease causing agents and stressors.

It is actually GOOD for your lungs!
I know this may (or may not!) sound incredible to you (and others!).

I am just trying to spread the word and hopefully more people will look into these things...

@Ungod Yes, I'm not sure I've met regular smokers who like edibles. They are different. IDK about the health benefits to lungs and disease prevention, but it seems that the tar, nicotine and assorted pesticides and herbicides would outweigh it.

@twill -
The main reason I don’t even consider edibles is that they always involve consuming excess sugar, fat and alcohol.

I am pretty sure weed smoke has NO nicotine.
I can’t tolerate cigarette smoke - one cigarette will disable me.
I can be in the largest of rooms and detect even a little cigarette smoke from far away - even when others cant.

Weed smoke has not been shown to create cancers anyway.

Your really can’t assume or generalize effectively with human physiology. Especially the untrained person!!
What works or doesn’t. Happens or not, is really all that matters eventually...

Pesticides and herbicides are hardly unique to weed, IF they are being used.
And why would anyone put herbicide on an herb they want to grow??

Anyway I t’s easy enough to grow your own or buy from growers you trust - I don’t advocate consuming unknown street weed, especially these days!

I’m not saying there are no dangers - though I haven’t heard of any credible ones.

I just say don’t believe the hype - there is a LOT of disinformation being spread nowadays!!

I am hoping people will actually look into things rather than accept everything they hear.

I think many scientific Atheists stop scrambling their dendrites and instead feed their neurons ginkgo and raspberry. ...rope is fine for a summer @ Woodstock 49 years ago but bad for any career piss tested .....proven bad upon Rhesus monkeys taught to smoke double blind tobacco & reefer. ...both got lung cancer but stoner primates lose memory and concentration

3

I haven’t in over 10 years. As you can see from the responses you’re not alone.

2

I highly doubt it....

3

Nope. I smoked it in college a long time ago but hadn’t had any in years until recently. It’s much stronger and, I found, unpleasant. It made me so nauseous and dizzy I couldn’t stand up for 30 minutes. That was one toke. Not for me.
