This weekend headline in my local paper is one of the big reasons why religion is not going away. I was sickened by the reporters writing and even more so by the lack of mention of the need for vaccinations.

I love every comment posted about this idiocy.

Yeah, it was all gods doing, the doctors, nurses, therapists, scientists who came up with vaccines had nothing to do with it.

Doesn't that just piss you off? God pulled him through! It makes zero sense but who cares?!?
If God was going to "save" him, why go to the hospital in the first place?
Do these people REALLY believe what they're saying? You're right, with gullible, superstitious people like this around, religion will be also.

The embarrassing thing is that the writer of that article probably feels proud of it, rather than shameful.

WARNING!!!! If you read this article you will be immediately in danger of the gag reflex, also called the pharyngeal reflex or god claiming. It is a contraction of the throat that happens when something touches the roof of your mouth, the back of your tongue or throat, the area around your tonsils or claims god was the cause of something positive. This reflexive action helps to prevent choking and keeps us from swallowing potentially harmful bull shit. DO NOT READ THIS ARTICLE!!!!

Couldn't even get all the way through that religious garbage. If folks believe their god will heal them, then save the hospital beds for people who actually trust and believe in medical science. And how fucking selfish are they to only pray for their loved one as younger people were dying nearby when clearly their prayers were the cure? Fuck them and the god they rode in on.

DITTO spot on true indictment of prEying

These people are nuts! Every time I read a story like this, the first thing I think of is what they are telling all the people who prayed endlessly and their loved one died? Their prayers went to voicemail? Didn’t put enough in the plate on Sunday? Their family isn’t worthy for whatever reason? I’m reading Tom Brokaw’s second book on The Greatest Generation and it makes me feel the same way. The guys that survived say god protected them, while the guy in the foxhole next door who is praying just as loudly takes a direct hit from a mortar, or mortally burned and suffers a painful death. God seems to be very random on who he decides he likes. Not to mention the hundreds of Atheists and thousands of other faith people who walk away unscathed. Just blows my mind how people think.

Woohoo! Miracles happen! Power of prayer! God's love is amazing!

Meanwhile women and children are being beaten and raped, millions are starving, innocent people are being tortured and murdered, children are dying of cancer... I'm sure God will get around to helping them any day now. God just can't right now. He was too busy healing some random guy from a virus because the guy hadn't bothered to get vaccinated. Plus, Karen couldn't find her car keys and needed God to find them for her. Praise the Lord!

Pathetic. So why did their god let him get so sick in the first place. To test their faith ?

Disgustingly irresponsible of the press to broadcast this.

Oh, FFS
🙄

You know it would be even more glory to god if they skipped the doctors, hospitals, and leeching off the people who believed in medicine altogether.

Superstition over science again
