"This Could Be Huge: The FCC Is Investigating American Media And Other Companies For Russian Ownership Ties"

[politicususa.com]

"Conducted jointly with the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security, the FCC review covers more than just media entities regulated by the FCC’s broadcast licensing program, the person said. It also covers a vast array of telecommunications and infrastructure companies, including wireless providers, submarine cable operators, and foreign telecom that connect US-international phone calls, the person said."

"Conservative companies like Fox News that have been engaging in pro-Russia coverage have raised suspicion. Any companies that are found to have ownership ties to Russia could be deemed a security threat to the United States and could be subject to being ejected from the United States."

I am not certain exactly how to feel about this news. My first reaction was glad that FOX is being scrutinized. On farther reflection, however, I wonder how close to something like censorship something like this could be or could become. As much as I dislike FOX and would like to see them gone, the concern for our freedoms is also real. Still, we know the effect Russia influence in our elections has been and we do have politicians who sympathize with Putin and Russia as they invade the territory of their neighbor.

Could you explain Russia's influence on our elections?

Could you identify the politicians who sympathize with Putin?

"Will the GOP’s Trumpist Wing Persist in Its Embrace of Putin?" This article is dated Feb. 25, 2022

"“Russia is a Christian nationalist nation. … I actually support Putin’s right to protect his people and always put his people first but also protect their Christian values,” Lauren Witzke, the right-wing Republican nominee for Senate from Delaware in 2020, said this week in an interview that was picked up by Right Wing Watch. “I identify more with Putin’s Christian values than I do with Joe Biden.”

"Now many on the right wing are parroting Moscow’s lies about the Russian invasion of Ukraine, claiming that Russia has legitimate national security interests there or that Ukraine’s government is so corrupt it doesn’t deserve U.S. support."

Free speech carries responsibly. I get sick of this lame ass argument. Falsly yelling fire in a fucking theater can't be the only thing it dosen't allow.

Any Russia interference ( elections, media objectives, asset ownership ) should be investigated thoroughly. It has seemed like the US political leaders have often failed to thoroughly investigate its potential nefarious connections to dictators. US politicians like to pick and choose their dictators.

Even if there is no ownership, the corrosive Russian talking points parroted by the Fox a-holes are their own threat and need to be countered somehow.
