Still waiting for some hard evidence and by that I mean not having some religious believer trot out their holy text as the ultimate fact check for their Holy Moley Man in the Sky.

Ever heard of the saying, Prove it and then I'll believe it?
That is the WHY.

1

When asked for evidence, they come with words like faith and belief coz that's easy to say than providing evidence

2 main reason there for those responses from any Faithfool, and they IMBEDDED into their brain from as early as humanly possible, i.e.

  1. you MUST trust in EVERY word you hear from your Priest/Minister, etc, and NEVER question him/her or what you are told,
  2. tangible and testable evidence is and always will be the works of the Devil.

Keep waiting forever dude!

2

And after more than two thousand years they are still looking. So much for that idea.

3

Psst, DO NOT tell them this BUT they have TRYING to make us vanish for well over 1,600+ years and still are failing miserably.

Their problem is that they have not yet found the correct magic spell to rid the world of atheists (and to get rid of all the believers of all the false gods as well).

2

Ask any theist "Where is your falsifiable evidence to support your existence claim of your god?" and they never answer.

Possibly a bit too wordy, theists aren't big on vocabulary for the most part. lol

@SnowyOwl I had one prize idiot say back to me "The evidence for God cannot be falsified!".

Agreed, they are short on vocabulary and short on cognitive ability.

@anglophone The evidence for god cannot be falsified? Who writes this shit? lol

I guess then you have NOT heard their greatest answer of the all then.
" The Bible, the words of god written by the hand of God and given to the Hebrews by God himself, that IS all the evidence we need."
I know it sounds trite, dismissive, etc, etc, but when they roll that tired old chestnut, my usual responses are,
" So God gets the Royalties for EVRY copy of the bible printed and sold then does he?"
" How could that be since the Printing Press was NOT invented until AFTER the first bible was written by a team of Scribes living in different countries on different continents in the 4th. century C.E.?" and, the one that really sets their heads spinning,
" So where is the signature of God to prove that it was his work and not that of someone faking things instead?"

@SnowyOwl It was a brain dead individual on Twitter. Twitter subsequently banned me permanently.

@Triphid You take more trouble with them than I do. My response to them is "That is circular reasoning on your part.". They then look stunned and don't say anything more.

@anglophone Sorry mate, but using ANYTHING even REMOTELY resembling Reasoning or Logic with a Christfool is, imo, akin to pissing on bush-fire in the vain hope of putting it out, OR, even more ridiculous, trying to find an honest man in Parliament.

@SnowyOwl agree wholeheartedly with you on that one, imo, ANY words with more than 2 syllables are completely confusing to 99% of the Faithfools and for words above their 2 syllables limit the required the services of their 'sheeple-herder' aka Minister of Religion to translate them into smaller and much simpler words.

@Triphid I am going to have to use that "where's God's signature?" bit.

While I try to keep an open mind, even on harebrained conspiracy theories like 'GOD', I do require proof, hard evidence, facts before giving so much as an ounce of credibility to such conspiracy theories. Should those hard facts ever materialize then I will be faced with the hard choice of worship or eternal damnation; I hope to have the intestinal fortitude to face eternal damnation BUT only in the event that 'GOD' ever makes an appearance, in reality.
I'm on pretty safe ground at this point in time. 😉

Perhaps they would far better off in proving that the Moon is made from cheese and that birds fly backwards in the early mornings and late afternoons to keep the sun out of their eyes.

7

The thing is that they have absolutely NO proof at all. None.

And as has been said by others, even if their god were real, I still wouldn't worship it.
Their god is a miserable piece of shit, with spectacular anger issues.

On the upside, if such a thing were ever proven to exist (let's go with it for the sake of the follow-up), there would probably also be a ring or sword that could kill it. That would be a good adventure!

Yeah, worshipping a sadistic gawd is like worshipping your torturer and executioner. If gawd exists, however, and is benevolent, then we won't be punished for honest disbelief out of ignorance. Any benevolent gawd that wants us to believe will make itself inescapably obvious. The third and, I believe, only other possibility for any gawd is a detatched creator, who set the cosmos in motion, called it physics, and stepped back and let it run itself. There is no gain from worshipping a detached gawd, either.

So .....in the highly dubious off chance there is a gawd, chill, and see above.

@MikeInBatonRouge Agree whole-heartedly there, all you need do is to take a look at some this " Merciful and Loving God's" Earthy Representatives from the past, ones such a Torqumarda, Mother Teresa, the Borgia Popes, etc, etc, etc.

2

What if there is a God, life is a test, and questioning the existence of any god is the answer? Poof! The believers disappear.

1

Re "Find one piece of evidence for God's existance and....POOF....they're gone forever."
🤔
Funny, that princle did not seem to work for climate-change deniers, flat-earthers, or Covid pandemic deniers. Hmm...

Welcome to the culpable stupidity of Homo (in)sapiens.

"Believers" tend to be awfully concrete in their personal beliefs about god. The difficulty for atheists is that as soon as we point out any holes, any factual fallacies in their espoused beliefs, they suddenly turn to very vague, very general notions of almighty deity as they dare us to disprove smoke and mirrors.
This atheist believes it is a waste of time trying to disprove existance of Gawd to magical thinkers/religionists. That is why I argue for agnosticism for Xtians, to help them acknowledge that they don't know what they don't know. That is ultimately a vital prerequisite for anyone coming to an understanding that religious belief is a waste if time, and that they might as well let go their silly notions of Gawd and to accept atheism. Even if they never get as far as to embrace atheism, reducing their fundamentalist sense of certainty is still important progress.

In the spirit of "sidewalk epistemology," (google it), instead of arguing directly the non-existence of god(s), point out the fact that the existance of god(s) is a separate question from the validity of religion, that their religion is full of errors, the fact that all religions are led on earth by humans and that humans are error-prone. In the case of Christian -based groups, point out their own scriptures declare that humans will never understand the mind of Gawd; therefore their denomination's attempts to teach detailed theological rulebooks are arrogantly violating their own scripture's admonition against claiming certainty.

Point out that any almighty, all-loving, all-knowing ruler of everything would never create deeply flawed, intellectually limited humans, knowing in advance all the errors we would ever make and why, knowing more than we ever could just why we doubt "his" existance, only then to punish us with eternal torment because we made all the exact mistakes "he" knew we would. No loving ruler of all would creat a Satan character bent on undoing said deity's good works, then blame the hapless humans for being tricked by this same Satan.

Point out that doubt is honest. Ignoring doubt by pretending to believe in Gawd, just in case, lying to oneself when there is genuine doubt, ....none of that should fool an omnicient god into thinking you are fully honest and not simply breaking the commandment against bearing false witness.

Convincing a Xtian that their fundamentalist certainty is rubbish and that the only honest Xtianity is an agnostic one can bring a believer very close to respecting agnostic atheism. Arguing directly for "gnostic"(certain) atheism merely draws battle lines, and the religious person will almost always double down on their magical-thinking, aka faith.

Apologies for the diatribe. Never hire me to design your campaign bumper sticker. Lol

This is my deal…

And in the 2,000 plus years since the Hebrews " borrowed" the One God concept from the Ancient Egyptians and the following 1,700 + years since the Councils of Nicaea all sat down together and INVENT Christianity and the Christian Bible NEVER, and I do mean NEVER, ONCE has either Sky Daddy or mythological Sky Daddy who is Sky Daddy's son who is himself anyway exhibited even one iota of tangible evidence to prove its existence.

2

the fun thing about looking at this meme photo is that I can't quite figure out if it was made by theists in their excitement to make atheism melt away, or by atheists trying to make a point, make a sort of joke and move the conversation along..... get people to realize, hey, sure, just show us, really. Not like fakey-fake attitudinal show us, but really show us empirical evidence.

And you'll keep on waiting...

1

II'm so deeply affected when they offer some anecdotal "proof" about feeling moved, or feeling the presence of God which was proof enough for them to know beyond a doubt that He is REAL!

Yeah, that works.

4

If a believer could prove their god was real, doesn't mean I would worship it. I would still be an atheist to all the other gods.

I flat out stun people when I tell them even if they could prove their christian god was real I would not worship him.
He's a malignant asshole.
The upside is I spend eternity without blessed death mindlessly praising him?
Forever. And ever. And ever. And ever.

No thanks.

6

They quote their bible to prove their sky daddy is real.

Could do the same with Harry Potter, I guess.

WHAT are you trying to tell me that Harry Potter is NOT real.....LOL
