The Roman Catholic Church saw fit to canonize the torturer and murderer known as Mother Terese of Calcutta. That tells me all I need to know about the Roman Catholic Church.

What's new, the "holey Roaming Catlicker Empire would canonise a turd if they thought it would bring more suckers to the fold and fill their coffers even more.
The whole basis and ideology of the Catholic Church is to " Steal from the poor and make the Church wealthier"is it not.

I have read all the comments and links in this post and wind up pretty much where I was before. That is, Theresa was no saint, but neither was she a monster. She's somewhere in the middle, and deeply flawed. Maybe even vindictive. Certainly wrongheaded when is comes to abortion and contraception. But that's pretty much the whole Catholic Church. Did she withhold proper care from people on purpose? Or did she do the best she could in a difficult situation? I don't know. I think it's worth getting to the bottom of it, but until a definitive study is done, witnesses are deposed, and all the facts are laid out I am going to remain agnostic. Besides, this is all rapidly disappearing in the rear view mirror. We have bigger fish to fry right now. Like how to avoid climate catastrophe, or civil war in the USA, or global nuclear war.

I like the new pic. Very becoming. I agree completely with your reply. Whatever she was isn't relevant.

I've been thinking about Mother Teresa lately because my apartment manager just gave his resignation notice so that he can serve in the Philippines with MT's Missionaries of Charities. I am hoping that it's a more humanitarian organization than what I gather it was while she was alive.

Seems to me that she was a bit sadistic in thinking that suffering brings a person closer to God... While that may be true in an abstract way for believers, seems to me that she prolonged suffering unnecessarily, perhaps thinking she was creating a larger place in heaven for herself. I don't know, I'm perplexed. I feel really uncomfortable when people say her name as if she could do no wrong.

She is the iconic "saint" the way she's been depicted, but after hearing stories of what went on I think of her more as a monster.

I've been wrestling with this in my mind, I'm trying to make sense of the personality of this manager, who does the bare minimum for the quality of life on the property here that he is being paid to manage, but spends a huge amount of time volunteering at the church. Seems he values "service to God" above service to the people around him. He's being paid to provide a clean and safe environment, for us, but he doesn't seem to think we deserve it or something. Is his volunteering, more than working for his salary, for a bigger reward in heaven or a bit of virtue signaling or what, I wonder.

In any case, for some people, volunteering in service to God, can be more self serving than being in service others closer around you. Not all, of course, but when it takes away from work, family etc., it can be.

Perhaps "god" works in mysterious ways, as now that he is resigning, we are getting back our previous manager who was an angel - to us and others - he is also religious and serves in his church, but ALSO does his job and is a joy to have around. So, it is all working out for the best, everyone is happy.

I just hope the people in the care of the current ministries are better cared for than what I have read about from when MT was part of it. There is money there and I hope it's being used to ease the suffering and actually heal the sick.

From what I've heard and read things haven't changed. The charity wanted to open medical centers in Canada and England and both national health services got together and did some site visits and chart digging and published their results in some little british medical monthly called the lancet and ripped the sisters another asshole. To say the least the plans were denied and the lid was blown off the sisters of charity.

@EricJones Sorry to spoil your little bit of fun BUT the "Lancet" is by no means a " little british medical journal but hey why am I TRYING to explain that to you who have probably never read one in his ENTIRE life.

@Triphid Most people in this country wouldn't know what it is (or the JAMA for that matter) but we can get the cliffs notes edition from the hospital network library.

@EricJones Should I shoot 3 cheers for your wonderous source of information, which, possible derives its info from such publications as the Lancet or perhaps merely dismiss your, imo, "comments" as being OVER-American Patriot to the Nth extent?

The "schools" they ran for native children in the Americas complete the picture if additional proof is needed. Basically an organized pedophile ring.

Nuns are trained to beat sin and evil out of people. Women and children are the preferred targets. The more frustrated they feel the harsher the beatings.

If a hell did exist, that bitch deserved it. She was an evil, twisted thing. Of her many evils - taking 3 million from Baby Doc of Haiti for a photo op and telling him and his wife that they were good catholics. By her standards, ruthless dictators are good catholics.

By the Standards of the Catholic Church, ANY person, scum, mass-murderer, rapist, child-killer, etc, etc, from whom the church can gain a monetary advantage is a GOOD Catholic and a GOOD Christian.
Towards the end of WWII, the Vatican alone made millions by running an escape route system for any of the Nazis who had the wherewithal to pay to use the Odessa Route.

@Triphid Yea, the church has tons of hidden, illicit wealth

@Beowulfsfriend Literally HUNDREDS of tons to exact.

Is it Monster Teresa? Some have said so.

Is that not a INSULT to Monsters to call that piece of garbage so?
