Fundamentalist islam has always been shit. Just like fundamentalist christianity - infeed, just like fundamentalist religion of any sort.

Are they getting worse, or is it just a changing level of visibility? There are thousands of people murdered every day by fundamentalists but we don't hear about them because there's a systematic drive to whitewash anything that has a God tied to it, so you actively have to look. They all stick together, defending other people's vicious ideology in order to have their own vicious ideology defended in return, and they call bigots everyone who criticises the viciousness which they pretend they don't endorse.

I didn't see anything in the article saying that the "evils of fundamentalist Islam are getting worse" other than the attack on Rushdie. Are they getting worse? Could be, the evils of fundamentalist religions, including evangelicals and Catholicism are getting worse. Just expected to find more evidence. The abrahamic religions are really cesspools of evil.
