I can so relate to this meme. Has anyone listened to Christian music at one time when they were caught up in Christianity? Then, go back to listen to it years later after you left? I thought, did I really listen to those lyrics and like it?

Edit: For example, the song below is by the Newsboys who are very popular in the Christian Rock genre. I used to think the lyrics were cute, but now when I get to the hell part, I'm checking out.

That is just stoopid.

I went through a period of time when I memorized hymns. I no longer remember all the word but the tunes will still get stuck in my head sometimes. When it happens, I try very hard to drum them out. The most effective is to replace it with another song.

I've never listed to "Christian music" but I have suffered through some "gospel music" and I was never impressed. However I must admit that there is a song by the singer Al Jarreau (I have no idea the name of the song) which I listened to for years singing along whenever I heard it. I thought he was professing love for a woman until my sister pointed out that it was just his version of an old gospel song I'd never heard with a jazz band playing music and a brilliant singer taking liberties to create his own version of it. I was fooled because the song never actually use the word "god" to define who he was singing to.

I loved that song and sang it for years whenever I played the album, now I choke on it.

I never did like Christian music of any kind.

Christian are the worst copy cat of music and change these songs to be about Jesus.
I can imagine breakfast in hell is like burning marshmallows of white Jesus, without the soul.

I have encountered Christian music while working supporting a service user.
This is the pseudo-country rock type of hymns with a repetitive beat and message. I used to use ear plugs to blot some of it out.
Reading the lyrics on the big screen I saw the inanity of their message, while at the same time brainwashing the assembled people with 'lies told a thousand times' (J Goebbels).
I see the strong connection of NAZI propaganda hidden in their preaching style.
As for other Christian songs, there was prior to Covid a different group of Christians who on Saturday morning would bother the local townsfolk with hellfire and damnation followed by some of the dullest 'aren't we small and imperfect sinners bound for hell' out of tune hymns that Scotland can produce!
I am fortunate in that all of this secures my atheism.

I was never "caught up in Christianity," so I can't answer your question directly. However, I can think of several Christian songs that I like, such as the Doobie Brothers' Jesus Is Just Alright, Leon Russell's Prince of Peace, and the traditional song Jesus On The Main Line, performed by Ry Cooder. Right along with those, I also hold dear classics like Stevie Wonder's Superstition, and Howlin' Wolf's I Ain't Superstitious. 😂
