'CDC Issues New COVID-19 Guidance After FDA Makes Change
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) issued new guidance to people with weak immune systems, saying they should take extra precautions after a key COVID-19 antibody treatment’s emergency use authorization was pulled by another federal agency.

The guidance again calls for immunocompromised individuals to wear masks and engage in social distancing, the CDC’s revised guidance says, despite CDC-cited studies and data suggesting that masks provide little effectiveness in blocking the transmission of COVID-19. Some former federal officials have said that the six-foot social distancing rule adopted around the United States in early 2020 was arbitrary.

Last week, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) pulled its authorization of Evusheld, a combination antibody treatment that is given to people with weak immune systems. The agency said that it is not effective against most of the COVID-19 Omicron subvariants that are currently circulating around the United States, including the XBB subvariants and the BQ strain.
“Among persons with immunocompromise and their household members and close contacts, prevention measures including wearing a high-quality and well-fitting mask, maintaining physical distance from others (at least six feet), improving indoor ventilation, practicing frequent handwashing, and developing a care plan, should be considered in addition to receipt of a bivalent booster dose,” said the CDC on Jan. 27.

The agency added that “it is important to wear a mask and maintain physical distance from others if it is not possible to avoid crowded indoor spaces … simple interventions should be used to improve ventilation in buildings and decrease SARS-CoV-2 transmission by improving air flow.” The agency also again recommended that immunocompromised people should get up-to-date COVID-19 vaccines.

The CDC advises that people who have a weak immune system and develop COVID-19-like symptoms to get tested for the virus. They should then receive an antiviral drug within five to seven days.
“Early outpatient treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 with a recommended first-line therapy, ritonavir-boosted nirmatrelvir (Paxlovid), or remdesivir (Veklury), or the second-line therapy, molnupiravir (Lagevrio), have been shown to reduce the risk for severe COVID-19, including hospitalization and death,” it says. Some doctors have expressed concerns about remdesivir, claiming the drug has potentially fatal side-effects like kidney failure.

About 7 million people in the United States have a condition that greatly compromises their immune system, such as cancer, according to CDC figures.

FDA Pulls Authorization
Evusheld, which the FDA pulled on Jan. 26, is manufactured by AstraZeneca, and it was first authorized in December 2021 as a pre-exposure prophylaxis against COVID-19 for people with weak immune systems and aren’t likely to generate COVID-19 antibodies via vaccination.
The agency said that as of now, the drug cannot neutralize a number of Omicron subvariants like BQ.1, BQ.1.1, BF.7, BF.11, BA.5.2.6, BA.4.6, BA.2.75.2, XBB, and XBB.1.5.
“This means that Evusheld is not expected to provide protection against developing COVID-19 if exposed to those variants,” the FDA said in a press release explaining why the drug is being pulled.

“Today’s action to limit the use of Evusheld prevents exposing patients to possible side effects of Evusheld such as allergic reactions, which can be potentially serious, at a time when fewer than 10 percent of circulating variants in the U.S. causing infection are susceptible to the product,” the press release stated.
AstraZeneca, the British-Swedish drug giant that also makes a commonly used COVID-19 vaccine, said it was informed that the agency will decide about reinstating authorization of Evusheld if the prevalence of resistant variants in the United States decreases to 90 percent or less on a sustained basis. The drugmaker plans to continue to share relevant data with the FDA and other health authorities regarding Evusheld and SARS-CoV-2 variants.

Monoclonal antibodies act by binding to the spike protein on the surface of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, but the virus has been evolving, causing changes in this protein and affecting how the antibodies work against them.

“AstraZeneca will continue to work with the FDA and other health authorities to collect, assess and share relevant data regarding Evusheld and SARS-CoV-2 variants,” the first said in a statement. “Evusheld currently remains authorized in other countries where it is approved for COVID-19 pre-exposure prophylaxis and treatment, including the EU and Japan.”
In November, the U.S. health regulator also pulled emergency use authorization for Eli Lilly and Co’s COVID-19 drug bebtelovimab, citing similar concerns.'

America, having a bill of rights , has seen people exercising their right of free speech. Information is disseminating in various ways..
Australia does not! Therefore our Death/ injury reports are heavily sanitised.
A dive into the Australian Bureau of Statistics records sheds a very illuminating, yet contradictory view of government and media announcements of Vaccine/ Covid deaths and injuries.

The problem lies in the fact that in this day and age we CANNOT trust any source of news, social media, information or governments.

If the truth is out there, you have to dig deep and search hard to find it.!

Big Pharma controls public perception,
as it owns the media by contributing 70%
of advertising revenues.
It has captured the regulatory agencies ( CDC, NIH, FDA, etc...)
as their budgets rely heavily on Pharma bucks.
The extreme censorship is finally starting to wane.
The information is bubbling to the surface,
and a new narrative is spreading. But as you
can see from the attitudes of many in this space,
the Vaccine Apologists will never see the light.

@BDair Agree, but still he fact remains that the truth is out there but we do not see any of it FROM any quarter. We are being lied to, spied on, conditioned and manipulated, led astray from multiple sectors of society.
We no longer have any way of disseminating truth and fact. Opinions are now based on a heavily laundered factual basis. How can one form an honest opinion when there is no honesty or truth from which to form any opinion on anything?

There are alternative platforms that
have huge numbers of followers, and experts
from relevant fields spreading the truth that
Google, Facebook, Youtube, and mainstream media
have been censoring and hiding from the public.
Rumble and Substack have mountains of info.

@BDair Thanks mate, bookmarked Rumble and Substack

This is one that is entertaining and informative.

Bullshit spread on social media is at least partly to blame for the US having more COVID deaths than any other country. Thanks for your contribution.

MizJ Level 8 Jan 29, 2023

Stay ignorant.

"Bullshit spread on social media is at least partly to blame for the US having more COVID deaths than any other country."- How can that be true?

My grandmother always used to say that "Sticks & stones may break my bones but words will never harm me".

How therefore can discussion on social media cause deaths? And why specifically is America having a higher death rate than elsewhere?

Is it because the American health system & pharmaceutical industry is the most greedily profitized in the world & not the most caring & nurturing? Or simply that Americans are the most unhealthy on the planet?

Did social media result in the manufacture of the corona virus in a laboratory whether in USA, China, Australia or Ukraine?

How has what I have just written contributed to American deaths?

@FrayedBear Simple. Social media is not fact checked, falsehoods have been proven to spread faster than truth.

@FrayedBear You hit the nail on the head.

Plus, Covid deaths in the US were way overcounted.
We don't actually know how many died 'from Covid'.

@MizJ

Paid check checkers are much greater at being fakes.

@MizJ hmm, falsehoods like vaccinations prevent C19 from being caught or once caught actually enabling defense against it?
That AstraZenecca vaccine was denigrated & slandered by Pfizer in order for it to be denied recognition in many countries to the advantage of Pfizer commercially.

Only a fool would believe the bullshit on social media err social manipulation, posing as facts. but even bigger fools believe the news media, scientific publications, Governments and big business.
Sad, but it is the era and conditions we live under now..

@Kurtn Peer reviewed science is very different from news media, government, corporations with caveats. When science evolves it may prove earlier assumptions to be erroneous. That is progress, not a reason to invalidate science.

@Kurtn, @FrayedBear Unlike vaccines for other pathogens that have high efficacy in re to transmission the Covid vaccines claimed to lower, not eliminate transmission. More importantly the Covid vaccines are very effective at preventing serious illness and death when transmission does occur. No vaccine is 100% effective, however when very high percentages of people are vaccinated diseases such as smallpox have been eradicated. The resurgence of childhood diseases that were close to eradicated such as measles (rubella) coincide with anti-vaxx movement.

@MizJ all vaccines developped when there was some little chance of false claims being made by the profiteers. Now we know that they are merely chasing mammon & no longer being scrupulously ethical. Thalidomide may have been an early example though "snake oil" may have set the standard for big pharma to polish off.

@FrayedBear I made no claim that medical "advancements" were all good or without ulterior motives. Some of the ugliest sides of capitalism are the evils of Big Pharma, in the US the for profit hospitals, and insurance companies. Jonas Salk had his faults yet did not patent his polio vaccine. There is more than one side and it is not simple.

@MizJ true.

@MizJ Peer review believable?? There is one world renown medical researcher of impeccable credentials who has very definite views and gives excellent examples . Check out John Ioannidis his posts on you tube then research his biography and affiliations. I have and tend to believe him. Most interesting.

@MizJ Salk also caused the first global polio outbreak before he came up with the oral Sabine. Wondering whether the oral Sabine vaccine actually worked or had the Polio outbreak gone past it's peak and was in decline?? I can find no definitive proof for either scenarios..

@Kurtn Very few things are 100%, even the media tells the truth sometimes.

[ncbi.nlm.nih.gov] This is the biggest case of fraud and the events that kicked off the anti-vaxx movement. The paper was retracted and yet is still cited today.

In re to Salk my point was that he made the choice to NOT apply for a patent which lowered the costs. Albert Sabin was the creator of the Sabin oral polio vaccine, it differed from the Salk vaccine. [jnnp.bmj.com]

@Kurtn Peer review is not perfect but it discourages fraud.

@MizJ The BMJ and lancet are full of medial fraud where marketing companies write papers supposedly peer reviewed . Names of peers who did have never had any contact with the paper are quoted. others are paid to have their name used. This is only one example of the fraud there are many others. I have stopped my subscription to these publications. I still have subscriptions in other industry journals. The trust is however no longer there, I treat every paper as suspect and do my own research.
EG. Who commissioned the paper, who benefits, the integrity of the research facilities and staff and so on. follow the money trail.

@Kurtn I suggest taking some science classes at a local community college because it sounds like you and the one who posted are sniffing the same glue. I suppose I should thank you as I needed a good laugh and the thought of someone not knowing about Salk and Sabin yet claiming to have subscriptions to legitimate medical journals worked.

And FYI, those that get caught publishing or attempting to publish fraudulent or falsified studies don't get second chances. Wakefield had his medical license revoked. There is limited funding for research grants thus donors are selective.

Big Pharma is different in regards to research as it is purely profit driven, caveat emptor. They do have a certain amount of oversight from government agencies and are regulated.

None of it is perfect but there aren't liars hiding under every bunsen burner. A lot of the garbage online is created by internet trolls, some of it is sponsored by hostile enemy governments.

@Miz Perhaps you should seek the education? I studied in Med school so the community college course is wasted on me but please tell me why do you feel so very threatened? This you have demonstrated by vilifying the authors not the content piece. I suggest doing a course on writing and disseminating scientific papers and understanding their content. It will be most profitable for your future comments when we then can have a reasonable discussion

The CDC just makes it up as they go along.

"The guidance again calls for immunocompromised individuals to wear masks and engage in social distancing, the CDC’s revised guidance says, despite CDC-cited studies and data suggesting that masks provide little effectiveness in blocking the transmission of COVID-19. Some former federal officials have said that the six-foot social distancing rule adopted around the United States in early 2020 was arbitrary."

Little effectiveness doesn't mean no effectiveness. I don't know why you go on and on about covid, after all if you don't want to get vaccinated, then don't but stop trying to tell others that they should not.

The 'vaccines' have been proven to cause major injuries.
They have also been proven to have a negative efficacy,
they destroy your immune system and the more times
you are jabbed, the more likely you are to become ill.

Meet Maddie de Garay, who was in the vaccine trial
and had her life completely destroyed due to
vaccine injury.

@BDair Sorry, Bryan. But after reading your commentary and LOTS of other sources of information, I've decided to ignore your "warnings." I'm 82 and I'm in a "high risk group." I had the Covid vaxxes and the boosters, and I haven't had a sniffle. Oh, I'm a veteran with multiple overseas deployments, and I've had a virtual shitload of vaccines in my life, and the only bad reaction was a flu vaccine in 1959. Since then, they've gotten a lot "smoother."

In Australia I think that it is metricated and so is the dreater distance of 2 metres.

However has research been done to messure the time that it takes for the cirus to fall from a six foot k1.8 mtr) tall persons mouth to the ground where cannot be breathed in? Further can walking through it sufficiently stir it up to lift it off the ground to result in snother 6' person breathing it in?

@mischl Exactly - you determine your action based upon your risk assessment the same as you do everytime that you wish to cross the road in the face of oncoming traffic. Therefore if you catch covid . . . or get run over . . .neither are due to @DBair 's words to you.

I wish to know why people think that they have the right to not only try to curb @DBair 's opinions reached just as honestly as yours but also ostracise him the same as you have done to Russia and other countries with your sanctions?

@mischl, @Jolanta I remember reading that Afghanistan, one of the poorest uneducated countries in the world unlike western countries never had the effects of the great early-mid 20th century pandemic polio. Why is that?
I suggest that @DBair is not telling people not to get vaccinated but is telling them facts that they do not wish to hear & big pharma does not want to allow to be learnt because it affects their profiteering.

@BDair serves up another platter of...

@Flyingsaucesir I will be most happy to consider your well informed
rebuttal if you have some information that counters what
I have posted.
That is how intelligent adults engage in a discussion.

@BDair Nothing you have posted is worth investigating. It's all hearsay, innuendo, anecdote, and rank, stinky bullshit. You should be ashamed of yourself. You're truly pathetic.

So you have nothing then, other than
your uninformed opinions.
Just as I suspected.

@FrayedBear I think that Bdair needs help.

@Jolanta Do you have any facts or data
that you can bring to the party?

@BDair What? About you needing help?

I was referring to any facts and data you
can provide that would disprove or offer
any form of rebuttal to anything I have posted.
But you are welcome to offer your opinion
on what I might need help with.

@Jolanta I know his type. He's a little boy trapped in an old man's body. Emotionally retarded, he craves attention, but doesn't know any other way to get it than by acting out. For him, negative attention is better than none. Thus, he thrives on rejection. He has seen every one of his posts calmly, methodically, and thoroughly refuted, yet he keeps coming back for more. That his particular brand of mania is disinformation about public health matters implies that he has a big beef with society. Like a lot of white guys his age, he's got a big chip on his shoulder. He's dissatisfied with his status in society, thinks he's entitled to more. He's worried about the demographic trend which is pushing mediocre types like him ever farther from the center. Feeling marginalized, he seeks to upset the table, knock the pieces off the playing board. He's desperately seeking relevancy, and finds common cause with other losers who are attracted by the idea of chaos. He may not even be aware that he's a pawn in a geopolitical game, being pushed around the board by a global criminal consortium of big authoritarian players. The fact that logical, well-reasoned, fact-based argument makes no impression on him says it all. For him, it's not about facts. It never was. It's about revolution.

@Flyingsaucesir Let me bag that psychobabble up for you.

Here I am with my big chip on my shoulder enjoying the negative attention and
being dissatisfied with my status in society and feeling marginalized as I
hang out at the yacht club with my princesses. Just waiting for those
fact-based arguments to roll in.

Masks have been proven to be of little use apart from cosmetic. Virus can go through the weave easily, like fencing mesh to keep out mosquitos, Larger organisms like bacteria which are normally breathed in and out with little to no effect on the human body, get concentrated and rebreathed into the lungs. This can cause disease and aggravate present conditions like COPD, Astma Emphasema and auto immune conditions.
