Do you remember when the Ayatollah in Iran called the USA "The Great Satan"? How we all laughed at this repressive regime, total religious nutcases, assertion.
Not laughing anymore.
The American experiment is a failure.
The human experiment is a failure. We are all part of the evil simply by being human and it's time for us all to go.
No we are not failures, we just haven't got our shit together when forming modern societies. Communism failed and now unbridled capitalism has failed.
The human experiment continues. Need to devise a system where self interest is not rewarded is all.
Who is we? Sheep/man.
@puff Good luck with that.
America has been at war 93% of the time- 222 out 239 years since 1776!!!
I have known from an early age that America meddled in the affairs of other countries and sometimes to the extent of backing assassinations. Many governments do this to one degree or another. Is the American experiment a failure? It depends on who you think is really running the show. Corporations are the real powers behind almost everything. Corporations want power and they want your money. They do everything to get and maintain this power. Nothing is all about you. Corporations have new ways of making you fit right into their mold. You become a part of their machine if you want to get ahead in the modern world and many people don't see this so quickly. I believe we have people committing suicide at young ages today as a way out of this because they felt there was nowhere else to go. I remember a time that your boss would never call you at home. For my part in this world today I work 2 days a week, then I come home and hide. Like Greta Garbo I want to be left alone. To the working public I am an extrovert but the reality is that I am a reclusive introvert who prefers personal solitude. I am more happy with my own company than with trying to entertain you. I always have something to do.
Hear, Hear.
This guy describes the financial empire system best.
The greatest number of attacks from US is in South America. Countries without US Centro banking is the main reason these countries are invading. That is why the US dollar and US petro dallors world collapse is the greatest downfall in their modern history. US is the papertiger that's turning the fiat currency into toilet paper. My part in Canada is teaching urban farming into peoples front lawns. Because most of our organic food comes from 1500 km. away. My Tiny housing is another story.
Good video.
The American experiment is not over. Far from it.
The video's producer sets up a straw man: the "myth" that America has not meddled in the affairs of other countries.
That is no myth; it is a historical fact. America has a long history of interfering in other countries. Much of this was motivated by greed for resources, especially (in the 20th century) oil.
But that is not the whole story. America has also been following a path of self-
improvement. The country has struggled to live up to its ideals of fair play, rule of law, and egalitarian multiculturalism.
150 years ago, Americans fought a bloody civil war in which over three hundred thousand Union soldiers gave their lives to end slavery. (Slavery still exists in some other countries today.)
Unfortunately, the Civil War did not end racism. The defeated slavers quickly instituted Jim Crow, and did their best to continue on with their traditions of oppression.
Meanwhile, American women gained the right to vote.
Only 80 years ago America helped defeat fascism in Europe, set up a new, rules-based order, and funded the rebuilding of formerly enemy countries (Germany and Japan).
Only 59 and 58 years ago the Civil Rights Act and Voting Rights Act were signed into law.
Only 15 years ago we elected our first Black president. This scared hell out of the racists in our midst. When Trumpty Dumpty got elected, he and his racist cronies gutted the Voting Rights Act by removing the burden of pre-clearance in writing new voting laws. Now the white nationalist/MAGAts/Republicans are doing their damnedest to disenfranchise anyone who might vote to uphold the ideals of liberal, egalitarian, multicultural, multi-ethnic democracy.
Unfortunately, our electoral system was originally set up to advantage sparsely-populated, rural states. North and South Dakota together have 4 senators, while California, with ten times the population, only gets two senators. And our electoral college is an anachronism.
To remedy these problems will require amending the Constitution (an extremely long and difficult process).
Nevertheless, we soldier on. We support Ukraine in its fight to preserve its democratic Identity, to eject the criminal, authoritarian Russian invader. We support human rights the world over. But America is not omnipotent. Even twenty years of fighting the good fight in Afghanistan (the graveyard of empires), trying to nurture democracy and women's rights there, were too much for us and not enough to get the job done.
People have a tendency to see their own time as the end of history. But it never is. Time marches on, new technologies are invented, new scientific discoveries are made, and social and political developments continue to occur.
To view this moment as the end of the American experiment is a deeply flawed, myopic view of history. But however much the criminal authoritarians everywhere fervently wish it were true, they are wrong. America is on a good trajectory, but nothing good is free or easy.
MLK had it right: The arc of history is long, but it bends toward justice.
"Only 80 years ago America helped defeat fascism in Europe, set up a new, rules-based order, and funded the rebuilding of formerly enemy countries (Germany and Japan)."
Fascism is back and lives in the United States. An unholy alliance between the corporate world and government.
Your debt is unserviceable, 33 Trillion now. 33 with12 zeros behind it
The world is no longer financing your debt, the world is getting rid of US treasuries and not buying new ones.
Oil has always been traded in $USD, now it is not. Saudi Arabia now accepts Yuan from China and whoever else wishes to use it. Countries everywhere ie Sth America, Asia and Africa, are already doing that. The position of default world currency is now over in the United States with a replacement ready and waiting.
The Fed is introducing digital dollars. From next month you will not be able to visit one of your national parks using cash (you can look that up, hope there is good wireless coverage). Fully implement, July. They'll keep cash for awhile but be sure it will be phased out.
German relations have been ruined due to the attack on Nord Stream. They will never be the same.
Most of all, I think the world is over American wars. You just can't help yourselves.
You have heard of bail outs, but have you heard of bail ins? That is when people's savings are used to finance debt. Never happen? Well, it's happened in 11 countries thus far. Digital currency makes that far more likely. Then things like social credits, where you can only spend your money where the state allows you, so you better make sure you are a good citizen.
Don't feel so bad as here in Australia we will willingly join you on the sinking ship, as we have done everything else since the end of WWII starting with Korea (yes, we were there with you, and Viet Nam and everything since like good lacky's).
I don't hate Americans I just hate the war machine. I think what you guys need is to learn to be humble. This will be forced upon you once the $USD loses dominance which is rushing up quicker than people realise. That will be a good thing learning humility as your leaders are far too arrogant on the world stage. It will be good for Australia too as we may finally learn how to stand on our own two feet.
So I do think the American experiment does have to end for if it remains, then the 51 states will be living in 1984. The corruption of Washington is ingrained and will need rather radical change to clean it out. If this happens, and I hope it does, I can't see the individual states remaining united ie American Experiment over.
It's going to be a fun year. We will look back at this time and miss it I think, which is rather depressing.
@puff You wish. But none of our problems are insurmountable. We have been in worse shape and got through it.
@Flyingsaucesir Disagree. Never had this debt before and relied on $petro cash.
In 2007 debt was 9.008 trillion, 62% of GDP. In 2022 it was 30.824 trillion, 123% of GDP. Don't forget, we had zero interest rates for that time and now we don't.

@Flyingsaucesir Let us know when the commercials start, encouraging downloading the app for the Feds digital currency. It will be sold as convenient and safe. Instant transfers.
@puff
The largest ethnic group in the US are Germans , So the usual suspects from world War 2 are at it again for the last time. Russia, China, US and Germany. Most of the world is aware its the corporationism financial empires last shot at One world order that every US president puppet has talked about. It will be real capitalism, not corporations that will get us out of this mess.
Hold on to your ass, the matrix system has just gotten real.
@Castlepaloma Thought the largest ethnic group now is Latino's?
Perhaps you are right, except they identify as Germans.
@puff
Most common ancestries in each U.S. state, according to the 2010 U.S. Census.
German.
African American.
Mexican.
Italian.
American.
English.
Irish.
Most killed in world war2, In Order USSR, China and Germany. The wealthy US Germans would lead everyone to believe. If it wasn't for Americans,
everyone would be speaking German. . American were one of the lowest people killed. Their strategies are getting everyone fighting each other and they come in to take the soils of war. Doing it all over again. How many hit on the head lessons dose it take to learn?
@Flyingsaucesir Correct, we have been in worse situations. I think we are in deep doo doo but there is hope.
We are alot better than we were, a 100 years ago.
Empires in accent build roads and empires in decline build walls.
All of your chronicles of America's emancipation are true but past tense. The recent SCOTUS rulings and Florida et al are intent on stripping away American freedoms. Just as when Concorde stopped flying the world for the 1st time got bigger, I think we are watching the American experiment starting to regress.
@puff You're not even in the SoA so I could not care less about what you think of us. In fact, I think anyone who is not a resident of America should not be allowed to comment on America. You only stir up garbage and hatred. Go talk shit about your own nation (which is also a piece of shit no matter which one it is). I hope humans are done and am now gleeful when each one dies.
@Castlepaloma From a socio/economic stand point we are actually a bit worse than we were in the 1920's. We have better labor laws, woman can vote but the haves verses the have nots is worse. Due primarily to the Movement Conservatives, starting their push in the 1980's to undo so much that Americans actually like.
@273kelvin No doubt we are going through a rough patch. And it will probably get worse before it gets better.
I think a lot of our current malaise is connected to the steep learning curve involved with the (dis)information age. We have yet to figure out how to live with our own technology. Social media is a double-edged sword.
@rainmanjr You do know what this post is about? If you don't want foreigners commenting on American foreign politics then perhaps American foreign politics should stop meddling in foreign domestic politics. Then we wouldn't care.
Until that day happens, suck it up because it will get worse. from all quarters.
Actually your right, the 20s was pretty good times, my mistake. I should have said the 30s the great depression. Then every 80 years, like the second world war.. Then 80 years before that was the Civil War. Then 80 years before that, the American Revolution. And 80 years before that, any where around the world people rarely averaged lifespan was pass 40 years old. . We got the collective consciousness of the power of the people to thank, for making life better. Rarely ever the wealthy kings, and politicians to thank.
@rainmanjr Nah bra, nothingness is no fun.
@Flyingsaucesir How do you know, bra?
@Flyingsaucesir, @puff I'm fine with it.
@puff You're not getting it (which is unsurprising). All of "it" is just an aspect of me so extinction is going to happen whenever my electron is done with this illusion. Therefore, we can all go ahead and die now. That includes all other "life." Everything goes and each of us have zero to say about it. Why fight something you have zero say over? Accept it and love it.
@rainmanjr Good question. Touche!
@rainmanjr Yes we can all go ahead and die now but I'd rather live thanks, get some more experiences happening, and let other life live. Not so fussed about human life as other life.
I feel I get life well enough, just is. Enjoy it whilst you can and when I die, so be it.
@Flyingsaucesir My only limitation is the physical world. My mind has no bounds.
@puff Think you can beat Deep Blue at chess? I bet not
@Flyingsaucesir I could at mental chess, because I would create a way to cheat
Woulnt want to ever be stuck out in the high sea in a sinking row boat with one bucket. with you.
@Flyingsaucesir You might be right and I do hope so but I am reminded of what Churchill said; "The Americans can be relied upon to do the right thing but only after they have exhausted every other option"
@Flyingsaucesir Kasparov still hasn't conceded that one and Deep Blue has not played since.
@Castlepaloma Then we are in agreement.
