I was looking at a local news site today. They had one of those advice articles. This particular person had issues with ham at Easter dinner. Some shit about a family member wants to bring ham but they want their own ham, etc. Etiquette question about all that nonsense. What I found hilarious about the entire thing was this was a Christian gathering at Easter and the entire issue revolved around eating pork. WTF?

And they (parents) then updated me on meat products and origins which I began to gather in a napkin and feed our shepherd under the table.
The OP says a person had issues eating HAM but they complained that they needed to eat pork. My mom told me they were one and the same. Bacon too. That's how the cookie crumbles.

In the babble of the Bibble, the eating of oinker meat is strictly forbidden.But the Xtians believe the oinker flesh is Jeezus meat, and eating steaming slabs of porker will make one holier.
And human meat is supposed to taste like pig meat. So, are Xtians really expressing closet cannibal tendencies when they partake of Jeezus meat?

Seems it is more an economic issue, a way to isolate those who eat beef and chicken from being able to deal with shortages of of such easily!!!

I'm betting one wanted a ham with lots of sugary glaze and the other was a diabetic.....the sugar is a HUGE thing for me as a diabetic.
Pork only concerns Jews and Muslims, if they are celebrating Easter they are neither.

There are some small Xtion sects that follow Jewish food bans, etc. I have met a couple members of at least one such group.

Maybe eating pork is a problem because a pig is not a goat or a sheep. Next, they get into talk about hooves and their shape. It can get about as tiring as some believers trying to convince you that wine in the time of Jesus was non-alcoholic. This was for the non-drinkers who wanted to drink his blood. Very important ceremony this one, but you had to be spotless of all sin. LOL

I think where that came about was back there when pigs were so infested with worms, ect. It made sense to restrict pork from the diet, so religion said that was against their beliefs.....now science has shown that radiated, and well cooked ham holds little danger.....so....of course religion, keeping up with the times, says, well, its okay again.
@FvckY0u There's only 3 Christian Denominations that account for less than 3% of the world's Christians that supposedly adhere to a pork-free diet. Hating gay people, minorities, and women is worth dipping into the Old Testament for, however, bacon tastes good.

@Beowulfsfriend Yes, according to Wikipedia there are 3 whose membership accounts for 2.7% of the world's Christians. Are there actually a few more or a few less, sure, but it's likely not off by like a billion people, so my point stands rather firm. The only reason the vast, vast majority of Christians bring up the Old Testament is to hate on people they want to hate on, but conveniently forget about about it when they want bacon, shrimp cocktail, fancy clothes with blended fabrics, or tattoos.

I was a little surprised it was that high, too.
I did a search and found:

Then I clicked each of the 3 groups I italicized right from that page and did a very rough estimate of the total. Then searched for the total number of Christians and found:
"Christianity is the largest religious group in the world, with an estimated... 2.6 billion adherents in 2020 globally."

Then divided it out and got a crude 2.7% and rounded it to "less than 3%".
